Old Chanakya is indeed worth a watch.

Zephyr I agree on all actors except Richard Attenborough. I didn't like casting of a Holly actor for Gandhi role.

@sscomp3

So they got new TV just to watch MB?😊

I have read a lot about madness created by these shows. Real life coming to a halt just for these shows!

Yeah HAHK made backless choli acceptable.😆

Yes. In december 1988. That TV lasted till 1999 when we first got a color TV.And i remember the old TV had a sliding door to close it when it was off. 😆

Yes, those unique sliding doors😆 We have one too although it doesn't run anymore.

It was the first Tv in our whole family. I believe it was Panasonic.

The glass sliding doors were for the special cabinet in which TV was placed. Our first TV was Texla given to my mom in marriage in 1985. In late 90s we got Akai.

Hi Guys. 😃
Sorry i couldn't contribute anything but i have read every page.
But currently Star utsav has started a show that was a huge rage during childhood. 😃
Shaka Laka Boom Boom. The magic pencil grew like anything in those days. I know it started in 2000 but i thought i will still share it. 😆

What an iconic show. I still remember how i left everything to watch this show. 😃

Is it the one with Hansika Motwani? I remember that show even though never used to watch it.

That is EPIC. 👏 I showed my mom this pic and said The first Tv in our home was purchased just to watch MB and that was the first in our area and whole mohalla came to watch this. 😃

Coming to India during vacations, this was a sight which I always was amazed with and liked immensely of the whole neighborhood congregating at one house to watch most of the TV shows. It was always loads of fun 😊. I miss that today

Well Richard Attenborough did cast someone who was half-Indian for the role but I understand what you mean. I used to feel the same way earlier but over time I've learnt that sometimes more than where you come from it's the ability that should speak volumes and in my opinion I felt Ben Kingsley did a splendid job as Gandhi. I honestly can't think of any contemporaries of that time who could have done better.

Speaking of Gandhi, again it brings back a lot of childhood memories for me as this was the one movie they used to show the students in school each year 😆; thanks to my school I think I've watched Gandhi 3 times in total in 6th, 8th and 9th std 😛

I love Flop Show!😊

2 years ago they had started showing it again on DD 1. I watched every bit of it. Jaspal Bhatti, his wife, Vivek Shauq and other actors were just awesome!

With such a straight face they would enact funniest scenes.

The humour was clean and satire was briiliant!👏

I was devastated when Bhatti saab died suddenly in that car accident. 😕 Even Vivek Shauq was too young to die.

Same here, I found it really hard to believe Jaspal Bhatti was no more

There used to be a show he'd host on Zee which I was a huge fan of, forgot it's name 🤔

I have all the Beatles film on dvd, it was recently shown on tv in HD, resurrected good old memories when i was steeped within beatlemania, those good old days in the mid 2000s lol

No idea if this thread is active anymore but this post brought back good memories 😆 I still have those Shri Krishna tapes with the Lav Kush and Vikram Betaal ads, and the latter literally gave me nightmares! Nice to bond with someone over video cassettes 😆

And those of you who get all kinds of nostalgic over the old Ramayan, Mahabharat, and Shri Krishna series - please help me revive the forum I created for people like us to discuss them: https://www.indiaforums.com/forum/582
New threads about your memories from these shows would be most welcome, and if you happen to be on tumblr, we're trying to bring this fandom over there too so let us know!
