Anita and Bahnni: u want the village track or the city one in MB?
the trps dont seem to be agreeing with the village track I think

@LOK: apart from TP, DKDM used to be/is pretty famous with a record of mahaepi trp of 8 point somehing a year or two ago..its trps are less now but pretty decent for a LOK show..I am also told that nadaan Parindey is a good show..
EBI and GD are also decent..so in all LOK seem to be going in right direction I suppose

JA going off air..good riddance..though my mum might be disappointed..
July for EKs new show..so its delayed coz I thought it would come immediately after IpL

colors needs to sack PB or he needs to reinvent himself..all shows are doing pathetically

Ami, I am still trying to make up my mind on this one. I ended up writing more than I thot and might have more points to add later...😆

Pros of village track -

• If we go with what has been shown so far (if Raja is not faking) his accent, thought pattern and mannerisms suit village track.
• Add to that, the new characters they have introduced, especially Bhanu, Agni and Dauji are really really good actors. Do we lose them or continue with them? I would hate to lose them. For a change, I am even liking the villains, Bhanu and Agni.
• Compared to the prior AK track, finally, there is a story that is taking shape and making sense, while keeping the ishq and junoon between the leads.
• The village track infuses comic elements to make it entertaining.

For me, each and every chr. here makes perfect sense, JM in wanting to run away from a culture of violence, Raja in trying to make her accept him and the culture he appears of have been brought in, Bhanu in wanting to usurp all the wealth, Agni in considering that she is owed a higher status than Raja and his wife since she is the daughter, etc.

Cons of village track -

• At the end of the day, it is a dehati track, something urban city dwellers do not identify with nor the younger generation who are considered the viewers of this show.
• How many shows will Colors air with a dehati track? BV and RR are already there. If you add MB to the mix, I guess the count goes to half of its fiction shows.
• For how long will the audience be enthralled with Raja standing up for Rani at every juncture? For how long will they stretch these scenarios? At some point, the novelty will die down.
• The rituals make the track look very very regressive.
• Raja is rough around the edges and needs to be polished up. Remove him from the setting and it would seem plausible to do so. How many people can a lone JM sudharofy at one time, considering the entire family's mindset needs to be changed?
• I very much doubt JM's makeover can take place in a village track.

I think the hesitation is largely due to the fact that AK track did not make any sense - events or character wise. But now that they have built the characters of the leads and if they can continue to build a sensible track, and give a proper closure to the village track, I am all for moving to a metro.

its not abt reach alone Anita..coz the weekend shows getting trps means it does have reach and people are tuning in for them leaving SP and Zee
as for new channel..LOk is newer than Colors
its abt the content which the audience doesnt seem to be happy with..there is nothing new in most of their shows

@MB: Anita but if the fall a proce paid for the bad execution of Ak track alone then the trps wouldnt have increased last week. from what I think..they liked the fact that AK died and gave the show a chance..but didnt like what was shown last week ( i am unaware what was shown except from ur and Bahnni convo and other bits)
i think last week RR was probably the only show that had increase in trps na?

Another problem is that even one popular show pulls ratings as people watch it and get to see promos of others shows and may try them if they find it interesting..with even BV in dumps..it looks difficult for colors

Do u think the channel deals with more social issue shows? This is based purely on just a little bit I read coz have not seen these shows - Bani with NRI marriage issue, Sanskar with families of kids staying abroad, BV with social issues that arise out of rural life.

<font color="#000000">I doubt the goodwill can be generated this fast for MB. Lost viewership will take time to come back and most likely won't come back coz of one week alone. There has to be consistency and stability in the track first, not to mention promos. From what I understand, Raja's recovery was not been promoted. Even if AK track finished, the first week of the village track was a build up toestablish character sketches and seemed to bring in logic which was sadly missing in the AK track. The leads' story appears to have begun this week, starting Monday. This one week is also too early to say if the CVs will continue to do a good job going forward<font size="2">.</font></font>

Anita, but the thing is that the social issue or the main theme gets lost in translation..apart from BV which has still stuck to its main issue somewhat,all others have to failed to do so..esp ones like Uttaran and the erstwhile show na aana is desh laado..the shows had rustic background and worked for a while coz they were new experience but then now ots the same old thing in every show
even MB was supoosed to be abt stardom and they could have veered towards it when the ratings were high but they left it for too late and by then the execution was horrible

As for LOK..yep maybe being SPs sister concern helps but then even Star One was the same..but somwhow never made it big except online where it trumped everyone

Raja slapped JM in the Friday episode knowing fully well that he was slapping her. He found the guy who killed his parents and cousin, Veer (dauji's son). Raja was beating the guy and ordered that he be killed. JM tried to prevent Raja from beating this guy and Raja pushed her away twice. When she still tried to intervene the third time, he turned around and slapped her. It was not accidental but intentional. This has sparked a debate coz raja's bg is full of violence. That is how he has been raised and reacts accordingly. JM comes from a genteel world where there are clear cut lines between justice and revenge. She is against the culture of violence and how the power is misused by Raja's family.
