I am exceptionally happy with the CVs now...take a bow Team MEIEJ...the characters are awesome ! DVD were fabulous!
So after the adrenaline rush of yesterday, today was a day of angst, pain, helplessness and further racking emotions...
Okay I am gonna speak in term of the two characters...
Madhu - Singled out and insulted before everyone in the jashn has broken her strength temporarily...she will bounce back sure...but this night she is vulnerable and totally drowned in misery...from her words we find she thinks her life is like a darkness...she sees no possible happiness in this place where women are devalued and only the might of power has any say...when Raja appears, she tries to share her pain...tell him that she sees only darkness...but all he is concerned about is her beauty and his feelings for her...that is the last straw for her...she breaks ...and tells him that his love sounds like a gaali to her...tries to tell him that she has been objectified into an object of captivity and ridicule now...when her pain finds no solace within Raja, she asks him to kill her...or free her...and breaks down...
Yet she is unable to see that Raja is trying whatever he knows to do to stand beside her...it is her prejudice at work here...she may be right about his actions but she has his intentions all wrong.
Further more, she leaps to stop Raja without knowing the cause...in her mind she has already seen him kill a man ...she does not want that stain on his soul again...this is her nature...too much humanitarian ...too much a follower of human justice...sadly Raja does not understand any justice except death.
Raja - In his own words to baiji he explained that his Dauji had taught him the language of guns and bullets, so speaks only those words now...he is riding high on his taaqat...a veritable wild and raw beast...and as they say a beast runs on pure instinct and not emotion...so does Raja...to Taiji his instinct to protect his mate, his wife comes to the forefront...
But alas his wife is a human being and not a beast like him...so his instincts cannot help him here...to him, he has already exacted revenge for the insult to his wife...its a matter over and done with...again he has not considered the emotional ramifications of such an event ...shows in how he is openly admiring Madhu...speaking of her beauty when she speaks of her pain...practically drooling on her and trying to get close...Raja is unable to emotionally connect with Madhu...even when Madhu calls his love a gaali, he does not realize how big a farce his love has turned out when the person he loves calls his love an insult...
He is still lost in his love...trying to make her see he cannot help it...she is his and that is all he knows...and that is enough for him to call it love...so he asks what else can he do for her...he is already fighting the entire world for her...again he is lost when she pleads for death or freedom...he is helpless as both will take her away from him and that he cannot allow...like the wild animal he is currently, he is unable to offer any comfort to her...he can fight for her, but he cannot make her happy...on an instinctual level he cannot see his mate unhappy but on an emotional level he has no knowledge of how to comfort her...
He reminds me of a big scary dog I saw in a house once...the child of the house was crying and this dog was pacing restlessly around the child, whimpering and growling...unable to pacify her and unable to sit quiet...Raja is exactly like that ...madhu is not wrong at all to call him a jungli...
And the very next scene...Raja's wildness is unleashed again...its not just the murder of his family...its a culmination of all the present and past frustrations that he is taking out savagely on that man...and in his mad rush to use the only language of violence that he knows he ends up slapping the hell out of his wife...the slap was painful and frankly out of line...the slap was also a confirming proof that this beast knows not how to calm his rage and rawness...first the thrests of cutting heads and tongues to JM, then the near strangling and now this direct slap...Raja has no control what so ever on his rage and power...no one till now has ever been able to leash him...it makes him the wild n free lion of the jungle...but in a human world...this lion is a painted target ...unless he learns to leash himself when needed, he will be destroying his own jungle...
Raja is a wild storm...and only a bigger storm will be able to shake him up from his notions of savagery.
A real ANTIHERO !!! I must say RK's issues were nothing compared to Raja...Raja has a long road ahead of him...All I will say is...I refuse to treat Raja as some hero ! He is an antihero! He will do Anti things, wrong things at times. So I refuse to see him with rosetinted glasses as asimple angry young man...he is NOT a MIlls and Boons hero...he is a grey character who deserves to be treated as such !
Just as his good deeds are to be applauded, his bad deeds too must not be defended...yet if I strive to love Raja, I must accept all of him and be patient to watch him learn to become a Man amidst men from the Lion amidst beasts.
After all that is what a grey love story is all about...love that makes even the basest of anti-heroes become the best of themselves and the commonest of women become the rarest of women.
Precap - A confrontation ahead...Waiting eagerly for it.
PS- sorry for the essay.
