SwaRon OS: Together Forever
The Raiprakash Mansion was beaming with enthusiasm. The festivities, rejoicing of the faces, the enchantment of the spiritual hymns indicated the advent of something mystic indeed. Gautam Raiprakash was the busiest man tonight. He ought to be; after all it was his daughter's wedding tomorrow. He had been running since the crack of the dawn, attending guests, checking up the arrangements, trying to leave no stone upturned for Sharon's big day. Had Shreya been alive today, she would have taken care of every meagre necessity. He missed her majestic presence around the Mansion. Twenty four years ago, she left him alone. She died, giving birth to a beautiful princess named Sharon. Shreya was an angel who would transmute the mundane into the magical. While she was on the verge of extinction, lying on her death bed, she demanded a promise from him and he silently approved in affirmative. Shreya wanted him to take care of their mutual creation Sharon. From that very moment, her daughter's happiness was his chief concern.
"Sir, is everything alright? You seem to be a bit perturbed", inquired Shyama Kaka,the most loyal servant of the household since the past twenty four years. He had taken care of the Mansion and its beautiful mistress whenever Gautam was away at work.
"No, nothing Kaka, have you seen Sharon?"
"She is in the veranda, enjoying the drizzle. Do you want me to call her?"
"No, let her enjoy the blissful shower of raindrops. It's the celebration of the end of maidenhood and her journey to womanhood," Gautam said.
"Sir, the pandal decorator wants you to check the final arrangements. Should we proceed?"
"Oh yes, why not. Let's go and check."
The Veranda
She lifted her curly locks from the railing, leaning her arms forward to cherish the beauty of a handful of raindrops. Its been five years of a beautiful relationship. Swayum, who made me his prized possession, was priceless to me at the moment. His name was enough to send shivering sensations down my spine.
Five years back, when he entered my life, I never thought, he would be so important to me someday. I still remember our initial days at St. Louis, he was just a weakling to me at that time. An irritating creature, who would drool at me incessantly with his affectionate eyes. Drooling eyes were never new for Sharon Raiprakash, perhaps she was used to these persistent stares. I thought him to be an another addition to the list, though a bit obstinate one. No matter how much I rebuked him, how much I humiliated him, he would admire me with innocent eyes and a pretty smile plastered on his face.
One fine day, I walked straight to the abandoned corridor of our college to meet my secret admirer. An admirer, who chose to praise me silently, showering precious gifts upon me, refusing to reveal his identity. Dressed up in a white attire, I waited for him desperately. The mere glimpse of Swayum infuriated me. He was just a weakling to me, an unwanted presence in my life. Moreover the fact that he wanted me on the cost of a few expensive gifts baffled me further. The extravagant luxuries of life never appealed me. I rejected him and he walked away angrily, silently cursing himself. He closed the book and left it to me for reopening it.
Days passed and the uneasiness spurted with time. His intensity scared me, his proximity disturbed me. I was apprehensive to reopen our shut book.
The Charity Event came and all of us were busy with preparations. I called Rey and overheard a conversation where the boys were talking about Swayum's proposal. I froze. For the first time in life, I was unable to decide upon the situation. He wanted me to take the initiative. Unable to tolerate the complexity of our strained relationship, I drove off straight to his home.
"Main sach me hamein ek chance dena chahti hun", the mere statement cheered him up. He loved me and was ready to change himself completely for me. Startled by his innocence, amazed by his undying love for me, I decided to give ourselves a chance. We indulged into a trial relationship. Our relationship taught us the profound intricacies of our life. I was changing myself for him, was trying to match up to his endless love for me, but he denied; he denied any alteration in my original personality. He loved the real Sharon Raiprakash.
Our relationship was certainly not a fairy tale, perhaps, it was never meant to be an easy affair. Numerous obstacles, persistent misunderstandings landed us in a vulnerable position. But these miseries strengthened our bond.
It took me two years to realize the fact that I loved him. The day I pronounced my love for him, he muttered," Sharon, am I hallucinating?"
"No Swayum, I really love you. I love you more than anything else in my life. You are precious to me."
He was ecstatic. He grinned, jumped and we swayed together to an unknown rhythm of our life.
And now today, just one night before our wedding, the nature seems to be celebrating our union. The nonchalant breeze appeared more beautiful today. It was a different feeling, perhaps quite new to me.
My chain of thoughts was broken by the noisy clatter of my cellphone. Praying it to be Swayum, I lifted the phone, almost overlooking the caller ID.
"Thinking about me, his voice stirred my mind."
"No, not at all", I refused with a hint of hesitation in my voice, amused by the fact how well he knew me.
"Lying to me is not that easy Sharon", I sensed him smirking in victory.
"Oh really, and why do you think I would lie?" I tried to return to my normal self.
"Because you love me dear", he said, turning me crimson red with his witty remark. I loved him for knowing me so well, for understanding me so perfectly.
"I love you too Sharon", he said in his usual manner reflecting concern. Just one night more and we will be together."
"Together Forever", I reciprocated his love by whispering these two valuable words which meant the world for us now.
