Definitely noone should do any crime tht harms humanity but point remains talent is a talent. More or less people get their dues based on their work bcoz in these controversial issues noone knows whts the truth is. Till its a serious crime I don't think a person's work should be ignored based on controversies. We 1st become fans or admirers bcoz of the work nd then we see the person. Moral of the story is personal nd professional things r different. No need to idolise any actor or star but I personally don't see any reason to avoid tht person's work on screen bcoz of his personal controversies.

Prem I am afraid you are apparently arguing at cross purposes which you seem to have developed into an admirable style. Did you even actually read my post? I doubt you did. Let me copy paste a few words again for your benefit. "Unless and until the others icons have done something irredeemable and irreversible, their personal life would and should be of no concern to the general public."

Please note the words in bold. That means corruption, bribery, lies which destroy other's lives (I never really pride myself that I am absolutely truthful or honest. I do lie sometimes but none of my lies ever destroyed anybody or hurt anybody. If they were, and I realized that, I have instantly apologized for them too) are beyond the pale of what I was exempting these other icons from. All I exempted them from was their personal lives. I think we should give them that space.

If they have done something like bribery, corruption, lies which destroy lives as you cited in your arguments, they deserve to be punished by the police and judicial system. But really, you and I are nobody to sit over judgement on them or impeach them. I hope that was precise enough.

Coming next to the other bone of contention, I was speaking about the RT affair with TK news report which was pure gossip as far as I can judge. Why do you think I meant the Hrithik-Kangana affair which was pretty far from both my thoughts and arguments? But here I wasn't even criticizing or supporting her. I just did not mean HER or HIM. I meant RT and RT alone and the news report about his linkup with his co-star which appears only like a rumor, gossip colomn or publicity stunt or gimmick to me.

Just a request, next time please be precise when you cite somebody and do not twist the argument they have given to suit your own arguments.

PS: In English exam question papers in India, we have a section which we call explain with reference to the context. If you ever had such a section in any of the exams you wrote, you ought to thank your stars I wasn't correcting them. You would have scored terribly in that section in such an imaginary scenario.

Well aunty I heard few things about myself in this thread. Honestly I don't want to say anything to those people bcoz I know wht I suffered just bcoz I wanted to stick to the rules of AT. Yes it may sound protective but as sumone said AT is a AT nd it should be treated as one. Anyways if my point of views r said to be protectiveness I don't mind. Like I personally don't feel there is anything wrong in rajat's performance it's the character or rather the way the character is perceived right now is making him looked doomed. Yes chandra is looking doomed bcoz right now he is doomed. He is totally unaffected nd disinterested about everything. People may or may not like his portrayal but personally I can say he isn't disinterested. He is just trying to portray a lifeless chandra. About shweta I never said she is a bad actress or she cant be as good as rajat. obviously she is an national award winner she has so much experience nd obviously she is good but right at the same time her character right now is shinning the most. So obviously tht effect will be there. I'm not saying rajat is perfect, he also has his bad days but certainly many a times he has been good despite this dubious characterization. Nd one more thing there is nothing called fan war for me bcoz I know wht rajat is nd he had always proved people wrong nd will prove people wrong in future as well. As per comparisons goes shweta is a national award winner so it was actually expected from day 1 tht she will be good. So there is no comparisons for me. Honestly noone here or anywhere r gods. Yes maybe rajat is going through a bad phase nd certainly a bad characterization but personally he isn't less than anyone. Sumtimes this happens when judgement starts to come on the basis of portrayal or characterization. When we see a historical character like cgm obviously our expectations r different. Nd I will stick to wht I said even though I'm termed protective bcoz I know wht exactly it's happening.
P.S. about mugdha I will say she was completely a new comer tht time compared to other co stars of rajat.

My dear Munni,

I do not think you need any more guts than you already have to post anything anywhere! 😉

On my threads, you are always welcome, the only rules being no violent language and no name calling, but arguing one's position civilly to try and persuade the other person. I have never seen the need to fight with others to gain one's point. You would surely not need to do that either. Everyone is entitled to his or her opinion.

If people start fighting and misbehaving on my threads, I have only one remedy, since it is a free forum subject to the decision of the mods. I quit.

Shyamala Aunty

Attagirl, Shailaja!👏👏

You have done, and forcefully - I loved the explain with reference to the context part!😆- what I have been trying to do in a gentler fashion for a long time now. That is to say, to get Prem to understand that he must :

1) Respond to what the other post says,

2) Stick to logic

3) Stick to the facts of the case, and finally

4) When he cannot carry the day with his arguments, quit.

Prem is a very nice young man, but he often has a cavalier disregard for the facts - he once asserted that Chandra's horrible stepfather had saved his life and raised him, and so Chandra should be grateful to him, which Prem asserted that he was not being! - and he frequently simply reiterates what he wants to say without bothering about what the other person has said. In the end, the interlocutor gets tired and gives up.

As for your original post, I am glad to see that we are on the same page. I specially liked the part in bold, which highlights a point I had touched on in one of my responses to Prem. This kind of character assassination is deplorable, and no one should foster such tendencies by gobbling up such rumours without making any effort to see they have any basis at all, and then pillorying that person.

Finally, I do not understand this fixation with the Hrithik-Kangana controversy, which no one was discussing. In any case, Hrithik was a blithering idiot, but his personal morals are not my concern. As for Kangana, the sort of things she said about poor Shahid Kapoor wrt Rangoon would make anyone take anything she says with a ladleful of salt. But no one skewers her for the nasty things she says about her co-stars, and that seems to include just about everybody. And when Rangoon crashed, she was blaming the director for allegedly editing out her best scenes, as if with them it would have ovetaken Bahubali 2!😉😉

My dear Munni,

About the AT rules, you are quite right, and Shailaja has explained that in detail somewhere earlier on this thread. One cannot violate those rules and criticise the actor in an AT.

As for the performance, there are bound to be different views, and one cannot argue about that. I have always tried to dissect and microanalyse Rajat's best scenes, for what I love above all in him is his mastery of nuances, his MS PPT displays, which are unique to him. But since a week before Episode 121, where he quit the throne and I quit the show in disgust with the character and the script, he was not his old self at all. And it was I, one of his most fervent but discerning admirers, who felt so.

Now, from the bits and pieces I have seen of the post leap Chandra, this new haircut, the new mukut and the stubble are doing nothing for a very handsome young man. They have done everything they could to ruin his looks, but his bone structure is so good that they have not quite succeeded. But the old Chandra, even with the bedsheet of an uttareeyam, was much better.

Anyhow, I want Rajat to get a really good solo show - as a great detective or lawyer or a tycoon - centred on him with no mahaan naari tacked on. Let us see if I get my wish!

Y'day N was fighting with C in his bedroom and jumping up and down doing some Rajnikant style steps or even Jackie Chan, I should say. Now the makers have reached such levels that they want N to stand out if there is a sword fight between C and N. So what to make of the story ? 😕

I think N is going to drink that Vish of VK who is about to enter or she will save CGM by doing the impossible. The serial will run like this with 4-5 tracks dedicated to Nandini Mata Japam.

I decided not to watch any more historicals. This one I am watching still in hotstar in FF mode.

Y'day liked the scene between Chandu and Chankya. 😃

A ONE OFF TAKE ON THE MONDAY EPISODE NO.146

My dearest friends,

No, no, don't get scared! I am not making a repeat appearance like an operatic prima donna!😉

The fact is that five weeks after I quit, I was coaxed and cajoled by a young friend into watching the Monday night episode No. 146 of Chandra Nandini, mainly for the Chanakya-Chandragupta scene. I did that to please her.
In the manner typical of her age group, she did not stop there.😉 She asked for my comments on the scene and the sword fight. Having begun this exercise, I thought I might as well tell her what I felt about it, and I sent her a mini review. Next she began pressing, predictably and most energetically, for my mini take to be posted here.
I am doing it now to get her off my back, 😆and I have warned her that this is a one off exercise, and I am not going to re-start posting on this pathetic show.

With this reassuring preamble, here goes with my candid opinion on the episode. I hope this is of some interest to those still hanging in there and watching Chandra Nandini to the bitter end.

Apart from the Chandragupta-Chanakya scene, the rest was a total bore. In the swordfight scene, Nandini's CGI jumps and somersaults were so comic - like a performing monkey - that one could focus on nothing else, and Rajat's face was covered.

What I really liked there was not his expressions, or as much of them as one could see, during the bout, but the very ambiguous look on his face as he leaves, saying that he has never seen her being ready to give up her life for anyone. There was a hidden bitterness behind the sneer and the sarcasm that came thru very well.

As for the guru-shishya scene, it must have come primarily a huge relief, I expect, and the general reaction would naturally have been conditioned by that fact.

This element apart, it was very well done - for all that the whole scheme seems too roundabout and unduly complicated for me - and Chandra's samarpan was touching. I liked Rajat the best at the very end there too, his face looking much better in that common man's costume than in the ridiculous new haircut, mukut and stubble they have given him now. His eyes literally glowed.

But even so, this is still not Rajat at his best. He can do much, much more, and he has done it again and again in this show as well. The micrometer shifts of expression, what I used to call his MS PPT presentations. There was no scope for any of that in this episode.

The script is so bad now, especially in the Chandra-Nandini scenes, and with this new look, which does nothing for him. It is as if they had set out to make a very handsome young man look unappealing. They do not succeed because his bone structure is so good, like a piece of Greek statuary, but what possessed them to clip his lovely, wavy locks and reduce them to this thatch? 😡

Let us see if the script improves and Rajat gets the chance to get back fully to his old self. I am sure he will, the CVs willing.

All this said, this episode reconfirmed the wisdom of my quitting when I did, for Mura and Dadi set my teeth on edge even more than they used to in the old days. Helena's coiffure, even without the corkscrew curls, looked way too large for the Mukhya Maharani's mukut, which was perched on top like an undersized small hat.😆Apama continues to look like a badly tied sack of potatoes.

Finally, this might shock many here, but I did NOT fall in love with Baby Bindusara They could surely have got a handsomer kid, like the delightful ones in the Johnson Baby ads? This one looks dropped on his head, having probably taken after his mother!😉
