One more point that I had wanted to add in my post above (which I have edited somewhat), but which got left out. As for Mudrarakshasa, I am afraid there is no point expecting anything like that in a TV serial, especially one of Ekta's , though most of the rest are just as bad.

I am told that the 2012 Chandragupta Maurya was very good, but then that was cashiered after little more than a 100 episodes when the channel suddenly folded up. The 1990 Chanakya was superb, but it was very dry and demanding, and it would not have lasted 2 months today. See the very good Peshwa Bajirao - TRPs are below 1!

It is interesting to know that you are a student of Sanskrit. I did study it to some extent with my mother, and mastered it sufficiently to be able to read the Panchatantra, but I am afraid I did not keep it up. I regret that a lot, for it is perhaps the most elegant language there is, with almost infinite flexibility in expressing nuances of meaning.

I took sanskrit as my 2nd language till my college.afterwards I took science stream. It is one of the richest language . But today its perceived as language of mantras . SaDly the language is extinct since nobody uses it for communication. I have read Swapana vasavadatta of Bhasa, Nalophakyanam Mudrarakshas I am reading these days to understand Chankya better.may be my mother named me Avantika after female protagonist of Swapana Vasavadatta Avantika.

Thanks a lot, Khushi my pet, and the same to you!

As for Oprah Winfrey, who knows, she might become the first woman POTUS in 2020!

3 cheers to the FEMALE brain (Sri, I hope you're reading this 😉 )

On the occasion of Woman's Day, I'd like to share an inspiring quote by Oprah Winfrey...

"On my own I will just create, and if it works, it works, and if it doesn't, I'll create something else. I don't have any limitations on what I think I could do or be." " Oprah Winfrey

I think this is the most likely scenario. I am sure the Pataliputra palace daasis will scamper around looking for the largest ghadas they can find, to contain this ashrupravaah!

But it should be guilt free, and gratitude-free sorrow for Chandra, which will be a great plus over Jalal in a similar situation. I must go back and take a look at my The prayer of hope and the prayer of despair & Ab hamara ek doosre se hi wajood hai posts. They were really good, if I say so myself.

While on CN, I think apna Satyavan will bring back his Savitri from Yamaraj here...😆

He's done it once before too...😉...

He will cry n cry so much ...So much ...that before Yamaraj could react, Chitragupt will order Nandini to be ousted from Yamlok back to prithvilok lest Yamlok be drowned in floods😃

KHUSHI - JALAL DID IT TWICE, IF YOU RECALL. OF COURSE, THE FIRST SCENE WAS A MASTERPIECE, AND THE OTHER WAS NOT EVEN OKAYISH IN COMPARISON

I JUST HOPE CHANDRA DOES NOT HAVE TO DO THIS TIME AND AGAIN. AND EVEN IF HE DOES IT THIS ONCE, I HOPE IT IS AS BREATHTAKING AS THE MAZAAR SCENE

AND AUNTY, YOUR PRAYER OF HOPE AND THE PRAYER OF DESPAIR WAS MARVELLOUS ⭐️👏, AS WAS THE AB HAMARA EK DUJE SE HI WAJOOD HAI. SINCE I AM GOING THROUGH YOUR COMPILED LIST OF JA POSTS, I READ THEM AGAIN ONLY A FEW DAYS AGO

Whatever the reason for which she named you so, you should be glad of it, for it is a beautiful, classical name!

My Sanskrit was never at the level of yours. I am as impressed by your reading list in Sanskrit as Chandra is by Nandini's pustakein!

By the way, All India Radio still has a Sanskrit bulletin. And there must be at least a few hundred people in India, if not thousands, who can converse in Sanskrit. But in general, it is like Latin, no longer a means of communication. But many foreign Vedic scholars learn Sanskrit. When I was Ambassador of India to the Netherlands, I inaugurated the Third World Conference of Vedic Studies at the University of Leiden, and hosted a reception for all the participants in our Embassy Residence in The Hague. It was fascinating to meet so many foreign Sanskritists.

Thanks a lot, my dear Lavanya! They both figure in my list of my Top 10 Jodha Akbar posts.

By the way, what is the latest about Utsav and his scholarship? Do PM me about it.

Dearest Akka,

I liked this one of yours very much, for I can see that it could not have been at all easy to pull it off. Some nursery rhymes - and frankly your trove of these is amazing, for I had never read this one before! - are harder than others to remix, but you manage it every time!

Affectionately,

Shyamala

1.Three little kittens went out to play
They went to the park on a lovely day.
They played in the swing Yay, Yay, Yay
They enjoyed themselves everyday
Swing, Swing, Swing!

2. Three little kittens wentout to play
They went to the park everyday
They played in the slide ,Yay Yay Yay
They enjoyed themselves everyday
Slide, Slide, Slide !

3.Three little kittens went out to eat
Found a store a block from their street
They had a sandwich ,healthy and neat
Oh wow! It was a tasty and yummy treat
Chomp, Chomp, Chomp !

My Version.

1. Chandra and Nandini went to the village
They milked the cow and learned about tillage
They rolled in the mud and danced ho ho ho
They enjoyed themselves so so so
Oh Ho, Oh Ho Oh Ho!

2. Our cute young couple teased each other
They plotted and planned and worked together
They moved from leg pulling , teasing ,and jealous face of love
Entered a new , loving and giving phase of love
Love, Love, Love!

3. Chandra and Nandini married again
All thanks to Roopa who was without brain
They enjoyed their togetherness in privacy
Without any disturbance and with primacy
LaLaLa, La La La !

Karkuzhali.
