What i love about chandra is how a young boy is standing against an unjust and powerful king and how good will over take evil yes chanykiya is behind it but his courage is unbeleivable and rajat does it with conviction

That missing "not" was a typographical error. Regarding Nandini, Aunty, I feel the script is doing terrible disservice to her. It is neither spectacularly grey nor a perfect white haloed one. The character being churned out is just approaching stupidity, crudity and blind off the mark vindictiveness. Her ideas are misplaced, her anger is misplaced, her trust is misplaced, her truth is misplaced.

Now when I think of it, I cannot completely blame Sweta entirely for it. She is not doing an excellent job but she is not doing a bad job either. She is doing a pretty decent job of whatever is dished to her by the CVs as her character. It is surely not her fault that all her co-stars are turning up with excellent performances while her scenes turn out average and at times flat. They are obviously getting meatier characters at this point of time and meatier roles too. Not every actor has the ability to rise above a lack luster script. I sincerely hope that her script will drastically change after the marriage and she too is able to deliver the goods.

Well, Alakh, I lasted thru one week of Shani, as I was curious about the aitheeham, the traditions behind his birth and his mission. These puranas always fascinate me.

But the preposterous sets and the lousy acting in that week, especially by Chhaya and Suryadev, plus the ghastly VFX with that Godzilla like creature, were enough to drive me away. Has it improved since then? Would you advise me to try it again? I got Colors for CAS and for some reason I have not cancelled it as yet, so if you would recommend it seriously, I can try Shani out once more.

The top shows now include Naagin 2 & Shani, and Brahmarakshas, which I avoided in toto, not far behind, whereas our show is way down. What does this say about the TV viewers here? 6 years ago, they knocked Yashraj's almost uniformly excellent productions down below a TRP of 1, and got their TV division closed. They want, and deserve, only Naagin.

My dear Shailaja,

Regarding Nandini, I have by now almost run out of both ideas and words. In the Friday night precap, I looked at her and then I looked at Chandragupta in profile, and then back at her. My heart sank.

I am dead tired of critiquing her, and I think I am going to do an imitation of Gandhiji's Three Monkeys from now on as far as she is concerned. That will not do the show any good, but it will be beneficial for my BP.

Don't pin your hopes on any drastic rewriting of her character. Bharatmata is the voice of the CVs and they are delighted with her. I hope they at least notice that the viewers do not seem to share their self-satisfaction, for the TRPs are sinking.

As for the performance, we shall see what we shall see. For starters, I would like to take a large pair of scissors to those corkscrew curls.

Jodha Akbar, I am told, did not pick up till the Shahi Shaadi Saptah, which began with Episode 35. So maybe, now that CGM and Nandini will get married and start sniping at each other, the TRPs might rise. As things are, they look very depressing. It is an Ekta show, and so the channel will cut it a lot more of slack than usual, but there are limits to everything. Besides, I want a real, solid hit for Rajat, not a limping also ran.

In the meantime, let us keep our fingers tightly crossed for the ratings to rise. Mine already look like a pretzel!😉😉

Being a National Award winner in childhood and pretty impressive Precaps before the start of the serial had me thinking that Sweta will give a layered and measured performance.

So far, Mostly she has been widening her eyes and blurting out PMR dialogues only. I agree her character has not been developed well till now. But CVs could do a 360 Deg once Nand and her brothers are gone. We can hope to see a very powerful performance as CVs want a sea change in her behavior to come out. Typically when tragedy of mammoth proportion strike out, people change inside out. We may as well not see the chirpy Nandini any longer.

She wull probably not bother about gibving the throne to Helena as her focus will be on getting revenge from CGM initially. In the first few months of marriage, she will be shown as Abla Nari where there will be no single soul in whole of Magadh to protect or provide solace to her.

Biggest turning point will come when she willingly adopts Bindusara when Durdhara goes down after the birth. This will make CGM go in favor of Nandini as his soulmate and fav queen. From then on Mahanta will win and it will be a Saas Bahu stuff. If we get to see Chanakya once a week, we can consider ourselves lucky.

The serial today is a lot more interesting .
