Ahankara stumbled upon a twig, luckily Ashok had caught her.
"Careful Ahankara, you might get hurt," He said.
"No worries Ashok, you'll be there to catch me if I fall," Ahankara smiled.
"True, but what if I die-" Ahankara instantly covered his mouth with her hand.
"Never say that," She said, sternly.
But even the thought hurt her to think Ashok die.
Ashok smiled.
"I would never leave you Ahankara, but you have to promise you'd never leave me," Ashok said.
"I can't promise that Ashok. Everyone dies, one of us will die as well, but you just promised you'd never leave me, but... After I die, promise me you'd live your life happily. Forget about me," Ahankara said.
"What!? No! If you die, I'll die." Ashok turned his back on her.
Ahankara smiled and took his hand, placing it on top of her head.
"Promise me Ashok, after I die, you'll live your life happily, you'll marry a nice girl, and have kids. You'll forget about me,".
Ashok hesitated, he gulped, blinking back his tears.
"Ahankara, please don't make me do this," Ashok whispered.
Ahankara just stared.
"I... I promise all of them except one," He declared.
"Which one?" Ahankara asked.
"I won't be able to forget you, Ahankara, never." He said.
"But Ashok..." She trailed off, looking at the pain in his eyes.
"Fine. Everything else but forgetting me," She agreed.
Ashok smiled.
"Luckily that day will never come!" He cried.
Ahankara smiled.
"Now, Ashok, which way will we go?" Ahankara asked.
"Hmmm, right?".
"Fine with me," Ahankara said.
She held onto Ashok's hand and both started their way, when they stopped.
"Ashok? What's wrong?" Ahankara asked.
"Footsteps," Ashok whispered.
He grabbed Ahankara, and hid behind a tree, he tried to look at who it was, but couldn't see as a branch was in the way.
"Hello children,".
The two jumped at the surprise of the voice.
Both turned around to see an old man, dressed all green.
"Hello sir, um, would you mind telling us where Patliputra is?" Ashok asked.
"Patliputra? Your going the wrong way son. Hmmm, tell you what, it's pretty late, how about you two stay in my cottage for the night, and then leave tomorrow," The old man offered.
Ahankara smiled, and decided to accept the offer, but Ashok stopped her.
"Just a minute,".
He pulled Ahankara further from the man.
"What's wrong Ashok?" She asked.
"We can't just go to someone's cottage. We don't know him yet, not even his name." Ashok said.
"It's only the night, plus, he's an old man, what's the worse he can do?" Ahankara replied.
"Don't underestimate anyone Ahankara. You can never-" Ashok was cut by Ahankara who walked past him.
"Thank you for your invite, Mr...".
"Lucius," He finished.
Ashok stared in surprise.
"Um, Lucius, do you have a son or someone in your family called Lucifer?" Ashok asked.
"Oh yes, a grandson! Although he doesn't live here, he lives right on the other side," Lucius said.
Ashok nodded, even though he had suspicions on this man.
"Unfortunately, I only have one spare room, you two can share, right?" Lucius asked.
"Sure," Ashok replied.
Both went in, when they saw one bed.
Both felt their cheeks burn up, and look at eachother.
"I'll sleep on the floor," Ashok grabbed a cloth.
"No Ashok, you'll sleep on the bed... With me," She blushed again.
Ashok slowly climbed onto the bed, making sure to keep some distance.
Ahankara looked at him, then went closer to him, laying her head onto his chest.
Ashok smiled and stroked her head, putting her into sleep.
He wrapped his arms around her, and soon fell asleep.
Lucius watched the couple sleep.
He smirked, then his eyes began glowing, and his figure began changing...

"Acharya Chanakya, do you think Ashok will be alright?" Bindusar asked Chanakya, as they talked in Chanakya's room.
"Samrat, his trained enough to handle any wild animal, but..." He trailed off.
"But what Acharya?" Bindusar asked, confused.
"As long as he doesn't meet Lucifer," Chanakya replied.
"Lucifer?".
"It's a long story," Chanakya said.
"But one thing I can tell you is that his not any creature that you can destroy, but something you can't hide from," Chanakya said.
"What is he?".
"The-" He got interrupted as a soldier barged in.
"Samrat! Apologies for the rude entrance, but it's urgent,".
"Continue," Bindusar encouraged.
"Rajkumari Ahankara is missing!" The soldier cried.
"What?!" Bindusar stood up.
"Yes, she's not in her room or anywhere! In fact, Rani Dharma sent us to look for her, but she's not in Patliputra!" The Soldier explained.
"Acharya, where do you think Ahankara went?" Bindusar asked.
"I think I know where. Have you checked the forest?" Chanakya asked.
"No," The Soldier replied.
"Go, check in the forest!" Bindusar ordered.
The soldier nodded and rushed off.
Bindusar turned his attention to Chanakya.
"Acharya, why do you think Ahankara's in the forest?" He asked.
"The nearest destination to Patliputra is through the forest.".
Bindusar nodded.
'Ahankara's in the forest because of Ashok,' Chanakya thought.
