Agreed. Coelho-books have this overwhelming depiction of SocioMoral issues of the mankind, taboo at times (Eleven Minutes, for instance), that they are subjected less to the liking of commoners.

I began with Brida, on a boring Summer afternoon. I was, obviously, mesmerised. Then I caught hold of The Winner Stands Alone. And BAM - I was smitten! πŸ˜† Later, I devoured on all of his books I could get my hands on.

Veronica Decides to Die is heavenly. You must, must read it. Actually, these three - By the River Piedra, Veronica Decides to Die and The Devil and Miss Prym - make up to a trilogy called 'And on the Seventh Day'. Though totally unrelated, as you must've realised, but they strive to be tales of Seven Days of the protagonist's life.
(For Pilar's life, you must've noticed.)

And yes, Piedra is truly a love story worth all the time and efforts. ❀️

that adds four coelho books to my TBR list πŸ˜†

I've currently read Alchemist, Piedra, Fifth mountain

Have to read The zahir, Veronica and Winner stands alone, devil and miss prym πŸ˜† That sorts my 2 weeks reading

P.s M ari btw πŸ˜† Very nice to see more people on this forum πŸ€—

Oh-kay. πŸ˜† Do spend two weeks in this; you won't regret.

I've read The Fifth Mountain. Elijah's tale. Quite as adventurous as The Alchemist itself, along with Santiago. Yet, better altogether; as per me.

Myself Aishwarya. Keep it Ash, lest you might get bored typing the nine-letters. πŸ˜†

I'm bulleting them, 'cause I'd never be able to rank them. It is, as it is, a hard task to pick five; I love each one of these, almost equally. The characters live in me.

  • The Winner Stands Alone / Veronica Decides to Die - Paulo Coelho
  • Rage of Angels - Sidney Sheldon {I heart this, almost pathetically. }
  • The Fault in our Stars - John Green
  • Harry Potter Series - JKR
  • Great Expectations - Charles Dickens

They're already six, instead of five, and yet I'd go on to say that you must give Paulo Coelho books a severe read. All of them, if possible. These two are my heaviest obsessions, but I'm pretty crazy about the rest too.

And when you're done with Coelho, jump on to Sidney Sheldon and ravish each one of his works too. No one in this fat, wide world can weave suspense the way this man does.

Toodles!

Another Coelho Fan! Welcome here😊

And you are a Dramoiner?

And you read Dickens and green too.
I'll take your advice and jump on to Sheldon πŸ˜†

Hello there,
Great to meet another coehlo fan. It takes lots of in depth understanding and reading to get the feel of coelho's stuff πŸ˜† He was one of my first authors and fav too ❀️ But am surprised to see Veronica decides to die as your fav coelho book it is generally alchemist for most people. πŸ˜† Is it that good? I've begun the book but then i started something else and forgot about it. πŸ˜† Have you read By the river piedra? Now THAT IS a love story worth your time and effort ❀️

Till now I've read The Zahir, The Alchemist, By The River Piedra, Brida.

People generally term the alchemist as their fav because it tells them this simple message that they always wanted to hear - You can make your dreams come true.

Veronika Decides to die is about a 24 year old who decides to die because she is tired of the same life. It's a journey. You need to finish the book Ari.

Fifth Mountain, Eleven Minutes and Winner Stands alone are my immediate to reads.

"You are someone who is different, but who wants to be the same as everyone else. And that in my view is a serious illness. God chose you to be different. Why are you disappointing God with this kind of attitude?" - Veronika Decides to Die

Thank you! πŸ€—

To be honest, I'm actually a Tom Felton lunatic. ☺️ But then, Dramione do have a terrible potential to be woven into tales - and good ones at that. Thus, Dramione.

And yes. Charles Dickens, well, I'll be honest again that I've only ever read Great Expectations and David Copperfield. But damn! I so wish I should've taken birth earlier. I mean those Pickwick Papers times... what a loss I came late! πŸ€”

John Green is amazing, period. *_* I've been into Looking for Alaska and Paper Towns other than TFIOS. Have you read him?

And - yayy! You must--I mean must--give Sheldon a try. The man is simply beyond words in thrillers! If you want suggestions, lemme know.

Okay, sod it. I am giving you a suggestion:

Tell Me Your Dreams

I suffered multiple heart attacks all through this. I mean, you just simply don't see anything coming - anything at all!

Your name, by the way?

Hey there! 😊

So yeah, Paulo Coelho is actually a Brazilian old man--somewhere between 60 & 70 years of age, 'cause the last time I checked he was 62, and that wasn't more than 8 years ago--who writes in Portuguese. Brazilian Portuguese, of course.
He's actually famous for his inspirational tale The Alchemist, which gives out the message of confidently following your dreams, tgrough a Shepherd called Santiago.

He's suffered much through the early years of his life. His father was an engineer, and so his dream of becoming a writer greatly appalled his parents. He was even sent off to some mental asylum to treat him out of his craziness--and logic-less-ness--about becoming a writer.

But he made it out alive, of course, and we eventually got an unbelievably amazing author! Plus, though I don't know much 'bout this part, but I guess he'd even become a lyricist for sometime, after leaving studies and before adopting writing.

And then he has written quite a number of books. His genre is a wide variety, actually. Mystery, romance, thrill, adventure, spiritual stuff - he's done it all. But, every one of his books have a message. They are philosophical in an extremely interesting way. And, in my personal opinion, his books are awfully full of knowledge as well.

For instance:

The Winner Stands Alone (Mystery/Obsession/Crime): This one's actually my heart stealer! *_* And this would tell you anthing and everything that happens in the world of glamour, behind the curtain. It'll tell you about Film Makers, Actors, Models, Designers, and even Film Distributers.

The Zahir (Obsession/Romance): This one would be telling about what happens in the life of an author. A tiny spoiler - this book is in first person, is dedicated to his wife, and Coelho is himself in story.

I would never finish if I began, so I'll have to cut it off practically. πŸ˜†

He's an amazing author, and you'll love him once you read him. Do give it a try, and feel free to ask for recommendations. I'll be more than willing. πŸ€—

Harry Potter series would top my list, but since almost everyone has mentioned it,I'm leaving it out.I really can't pick just 5 books 'cause there are many books I love,so I'm listing the books which made an impact on me till date:

The Book Thief -Marcus Zusak
To Kill A Mocking Bird-Harper Lee
Heidi -Johanna Spyri , Anne of Green Gables-L.M Montgomery and Little Women-L M Alcott ( these books made me fall in love with literature as a child)
Pride and Prejudice & Persuasion -Jane Austen
Gone With The Wind -Margaret Mitchell
Wuthering Heights -Emily Bronte

Well,I cheated,a lot.Can't help itπŸ˜†

Hey Aishwarya thank you so much for your detailed informations!!
Now I will definitely try his books! I will surely ask you more if I need further infos! Thanks for being so kind! 😊

And I definitely agree on Tell Me Your Dreams. Actually all Sidney Sheldon books are like the best thing you are ever going to read in the thriller genre. I felt spiritual pain while reading some πŸ˜†
