Put off

Sanjay Dutt, who was excited about starring in the remake of his late father Sunil Dutt's super hit, the '70s Padosan, will have to wait much longer than he thought. Apparently, the film has been put on the backburner and if reports are to be believed, the film may not take off at all. Our source from the industry says, "Sanjay Dutt was thrilled to be part of the Padosan remake. The film was all set to go on the floors long back but because of Dutt's legal hassles and his other commitments, the film could not take-off. Govinda was slated to play Mehmood's role, Ritesh Deshmukh was roped in to play Sunil Dutt's role and Sanjay Dutt was to essay Kishore Kumar's role. Dutt had even given the dates but neither the script was ready nor was the leading lady finalised. Now, that Sanjay Dutt is extremely busy, the film seems to be stuck."

When contacted Dharam Oberoi, business manager of Sanjay Dutt, says, "The film has not been shelved, but since Sanjay does not have the dates and is committed to other films, the shooting has been pushed to 2010."
