Tele-star Rajeev Khandelwal has taken an unconventional route for his Bollywood debut with Aamir, where he portrays a Muslim NRI doctor, who gets embroiled with the whole terrorism business. Rajeev denies the charge that the movie is inspired by any real incident and says, "It's a work of imagination and the only link with reality is the subject itself which is quite relevant with today's affairs." And, despite the subject being close to reality, the movie still has the thriller and entertainment element well preserved in it, he claims. Could you believe it that Rajeev was only recently loaded with lot of get-well-soon cards and flowers? Yes, it's true; he has had plenty of cards and bouquets just after attending a rehearsal workshop held in Mumbai for his debut Aamir.
In fact, Rajeev was recently caught on the camera during the shoot; a person on the other side with a hidden camera was ordering him to scream, laugh and shout. Since the venue of the shooting was the crowded street of Lokhandwala, the people witnessing the scene considered Rajeev "insane". The news reached quickly all over the city and his fans and friends got worried. They started sending him get-well-soon cards and flowers! The people didn't know that it was just a part of his workshop. This is to remember that in some of the scenes in the movie Rajeev had to speak on the phone and the person on the other line shouts and abuses him.

Here, Rajeev plays a character who is going through a very tough situation in life. So, Rajeev runs helter-skelter, shouting and abusing on the Mumbai streets. When asked if the Aamir's character fits with his lover boy image on the small screen, the actor admits that Aamir's character is just different from his earlier image. In Aamir there's no scope of romance as there is neither a heroine, nor a song. Isn't he afraid of having lost his present image by accepting this offer? "No. I am known as a risk taker, even in my television career I never shied from experimenting. Besides, the team has a handful of debutants that include director Rajkumar Gupta, cinematographer Alphonso Roy and music director Amit Trivedi." So, he isn't concerned about losing his image and is fully prepared to await its fate at the box office when the movie releases by the middle of the next month (May).
