In a revelation of sorts, Bhoothnath director Vivek Sharma said all reports of Amitabh Bachchan playing the dead grandfather of child artist Aman Siddiqui in the supernatural thriller are false.
"It's completely wrong that Amitabh is playing the grandfather of Banku (Aman). The story is actually that a family moves into a haunted house in Goa and Bachchan is a bad ghost staying there. He is not at all related to the family. But during the course of their stay, he develops a special relationship with Banku," stated the director and added, "Amitabh playing a ghost will make it a visual treat for the audience."
And about SRK's role in Bhoothnath, he said, "Shah Rukh plays a Chief Engineer on a cruise liner. He is a fun loving person."
On directing SRK and Amitabh in his first film, he exclaimed, "I feel completely satisfied and even if I die tomorrow I will have no regrets. The chemistry between SRK and Amitabh has been perfect. There was no cold war as reported in the media. Also actors like Juhi Chawla, Rajpal Yadav and Priyanshu Chatterjee have added a lot to the film. And how can I forget Ravi Chopra. I could not have asked for a better debut."
Quizzed about his favourite scenes from the film, he revealed, "The best shot is when Big B understands that he is a ghost. It's definitely the high point of the film. Also the argument between SRK and Priyanshu, who plays Amitji's son, is a crucial scene in the film. Both actors have performed the scene with a different intensity."
Bhoothnath will be releasing on May 9 2008.
