If you have been keeping a close eye on the promos of Tashan, then you would have noticed that not much screen space is being given to Akshay Kumar. What could the reason be… read on.

It seems that the film-makers, Yash Raj Films are trying to promote the film on the back-heels of Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan, who are all the rage these days. This film is to be the first time the two will be seen together on the big screen since they hooked up as a couple, and this is being used by Yash Raj to plug the film further. Akshay Kumar and Anil Kapoor also star in the film, but rarely have they been seen on the trailers.

That is one reason as to why Akshay has been put on the back-burner, another is of Akshay turning down a Yash Raj film, and therefore the big-wig production house getting miffed with him. Yash Raj head-man Yash Chopra is not used to stars turning down roles offered to them on a plate from his production house, and seem to have gotten a little hurt by Akshay's refusal.

A source says, "Yes, it's true that Akshay Kumar turned down a Yash Raj film. Obviously, the Chopras did not take it too well. After watching Akshay's performance in Tashan, the Chopras wanted him to star in another project of theirs. Aditya Chopra personally narrated the script to Akshay. However, Akshay was not entirely convinced with the story of the untitled project and turned it down. Aditya believes that because of Yash Raj's Dil To Pagal Hai, Akshay got a new image. He expected Akshay to say yes at least for old times' sake. Sadly, Akshay's decision caught him completely off-guard The creative team at Yash Raj, which currently is working on the promos of Tashan, have focused on Saif and Kareena, leaving Akshay almost out of the picture. It is their way of getting back at Akshay."
