Met a prominent Distributor a couple of years ago at a party. His exact words were "Akshay is the backbone of the Industry". The other stars come once every couple of years, that too on big holidays when the theatres are packed anyways. Akshay comes multiple times a year, that too on regular weekends. He keeps us going all year around. Hits and flops are part of the business, but other than the tainted Sky Force its been a good year for Akki. More importantly two good films in Kesari 2 & Jolly 3.

calling movie a hit doesnt make it a hit. it has to actually make money too!!

that was akki from 6 years ago but not now, now days everything he does turns into disaster.

From 2021 to 2025 incl. Akshay made 15 movies as the lead (or in a prominent position)... only two of them had been profitable for the makers (Sooryavanshi and OMG 2)...the rest all had been losses (partly disastrous)...

So, calling him still the "backbone of the industry" seems quite laughable to me ... except if he is casted for certain interests which include that the movie looses a big chunk of money...

Well... we will see if he is "back to giving hits" with now a movie where - fortunately - Arshad plays the other lead...
