There's no question in anyone's character overshadowing anothers. Deepika had a more successful film. Sonam had a bigger, more different character.
It's not like they were in the same film, so how is there any possibility of overshadowing?

Recently, all you ever hear in the news is Deepika these days.
I have nothing against her but I just feel that she is overrated and hyped to the max.
In OSO she was nothing outstanding, just ordinary. Yet, the whole of the industry and media are going gaga over her.
Yeah, I agree that Deepika is a decent looking girl but she isn't somebody who I would say is astonishingly beautiful.
I know that she is marketing herself very well with all the ads, alleged affairs and film signings.
But I just don't understand what is so outstanding about her.
What is your opinion about this? LOL! Don't agree with you at all!😆
Why is she been put on such a high status stand? Because shes the best!😆
Do you feel that other more competent actresses are being ignored?Nope.
Has she done enough for the industry to make her liable for the interest and gratitude she has been getting?Yeah!
I am aware that there are many fans of Deepika here, and I hope I haven't offended them. I have just expressed my personal opinion about her so don't get any chappals out to beat me.

its just not only about successful film,
i m talking about performance and ranbir was the show stealer in the same
film which overshadowed a powerful performance of neil in the hit film johnny gaddar.
Every actor plays the character required in the movie and weighed according to that. If someone is required to play a top movie actor in first half and a normal fan in second half then the actor will play that. Deepika was fabulous in both roles. She played a normal fan in second half with equal panache as she played the 70s stunning Shanti. Now you can't expect the actor to play an eccentric lover in this movie. That was a different film😊.
Now to the argument that anyone could have played Shanti's or Sandy's character then similarly anyone could have played Sakina or Gulabo or Geet Dhillon. If one chooses to laugh at Shanti's character then all other characters are equally hilarious and at the same level. Not something to write home about. So how do we rate them?😉 Simple! according to our preference.
Coming to actual topic. I think Deepika is over-rated not because of her fans but because of the people who doesn't leave a chance to comment on her everyday routine and role.😆

If your talking about powerful performances, then Sonam's was way more powerful than Deepika's. Sonam's role had many shades of grey.....something which you don't see with your average leading lady. She was manipulating, selfish yet innocent at the same time - this i feel the audience found difficult to digest because were so used to seeing our heroines play goody-two shoes.
And obviously Ranbir was the show stealer the film was about him, his character was meant to connect with the audience whereas Sonam's didn't because she was a negative character at times.
OSO was a complete SRK masala film, it belongs to him not Deepika.

I have liked Sonam and Deepika's roles so simply arguing because of this comparison.
How big or different was Sonam's role? Is it difficult to cry or laugh at drop of hat? Is that outstanding acting? Anyone could have done that. Deepika's had to play two different roles. In one she played a poised 70s beauty and second half she was normal, bubble popping😉 fan. Is that very easy to play?
If our audience is so used to seeing goody-two-shoes then they wouldn't have appreciated Kajol in Gupt. So such arguments don't even stand a chance.
^^Yep. Blame everything on the audience😉😆. It is hilarious that according to few, only emotions in a dark environment is revered as acting these days. But in a more light environment, it becomes worthless.
Sometimes grapes are sour. So no point in arguing then. Let it be.
He is ugly and pretty average from all standards. Doesn’t look like a Bollywood hero material at all. I’m pretty sure he will flop within 2...
