Just an excerpt about the one in 2013 and then, there had been one in 2019, too :"In 2013, 120 million pilgrims attended the Kumbh Mela at Prayagraj."

Btw, there are also other cities where these bathing festivals take place

🤦‍♀️

Is it impossible to keep out of the things that you have no knowledge about?

The topic is about Mahakhumb. You are talking about the khumb and what not. I am a little busy right now but I will get back to you on this little later if you honestly want to get more information on this and will tell you the difference between khumb, arthkhumb, Mahakhumb, pushkar etc.

The "no knowledge" part sounds quite arrogant to me...do you think a German cannot have some basic knowledge about things inherent to Indian / Hindu culture? Instead of telling me where it is written that the Maha Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj is only all 144 years, you try to insult me...very low behaviour. But my research got me an article, so I don't need your profound 'knowledge' anymore smiley16 (the 144 years only refers to the 'perfect' constellation of Jupiter, Sun and Moon which is special for this year's Maha Kumbh)

I think you are confusing Khumb with Mahakhumb.

I don't need that anymore (btw, I already knew the differences even though I didn't detail my "no" knowledge). You just could be a bit more attentive with your own wording when you mention the 144 years... as a Maha Kumbh in P. is every 12 years...only the constellation is once in 144 years smiley1

It’s neither the arrogance nor was I trying to insult you. I was more exasperated if anything, at the sheer ignorance of it all..Stop being so sensitive, especially when you are volunteering to tread into the unknown waters. This I am saying with utmost vinamrata…🙏🏻

Sorry but you shouldn't be bringing up ' ignorance' and ' unknown waters' when you misspell/mispronounce something so basic , as ' Khumb' . It's Kumbh or Kumbha which means pot. It's a reference to the samudra manthan story where Dhanvantari emerged with the kumbha full of amrut.

Excuse my bad English spellings of Sanskrit words.. But that doesn’t change anything. I don’t even know what you are trying to say here. The member could’ve asked if this was any different from what the other events but their first comment was ‘no’ and on the top of it they were asking me for citations to my ‘claim’. Even in the end they were stuck to their some googled misinformation. Still I admit my first reaction could have been better because there are others too who would be reading all this and instead of giving a knee jerk reaction( though I edited it within one minute offering to give more information) I should’ve taken time to explain what these various sacred events are and their significance so that it would’ve been a learning opportunity to everyone instead of this useless exchange.

Edit: anyway, now that you are here, and since you seem to be knowledgeable of the subject, why don’t you please take your time to share the meaning and significance of this event so that we make this interaction somewhat fruitful?

I get it if you were annoyed by their tone but they had a point and you sounded gatekeepy in a " Back off, yeh humara maamla hai " way. My apologies if that wasn't the case.

Oh no I'm not knowledgeable in this ,I'm more of a feet expert. If you want to know about the horrors of feet; of having to see them around you all the time I'm the person to come to.
