Celebrity culture, media, thrives, making money from engagements.Rival fandoms drive engagements. If a celeb has to stay relevant , he/she must engage the trolls, so that the fans come to life and fight for them.No celeb can exist in a vacuum. So they themselves create rivals and encourage rivalry.

Finally it is only about their Friday releases. Those stars who have made deep impact over a large group of population over time by giving blockbusters-their fandom never leaves them.

Sunny Deol,SRK,Salman,Prabhas are recent examples.Amir too will make a comeback.Dhoom3 was bad,Laal Singh Chaddha didn't create any interest. When the right film comes along-Fans will watch.Never mind how many flops the stars have given..they will show up, when the film is right.

Expand your fanbase, that is your consumer base.An Apple fan will not buy every product..Some products underperform..or public is not interested. They will buy when it's time.Stars are Brands..between selling there is advertising..

I only care about the next release and how much demand there is in the market for my star.

Here’s what I’ve learned after years on IF and arguments and fights and mistakes smiley36. The best way to enjoy IF is to not get caught up defending your favorite.

If it’s constructive criticism then that’s fine. I will present my side and usually there’s a good debate. Doesn’t mean anyone has changed anyone’s mind. But two or more people had a good discussion about stars and movies, which is what we’re here for anyway. The only thing to remember is not to attack any poster here personally, which unfortunately does happen more often than it should.

When it’s not constructive criticism, when it’s blatantly mocking and belittling a star two things to remember. 1) they’re doing it because they genuinely just despise that star and nothing you say will change their mind. They’re entitled to their feelings and just let them be. 2) they’re doing it specifically to get a rise out of you for whatever reason. Best way to get back at them is to not engage them. Believe me you not engaging them will piss them off even more than if you actually try to defend your favorite smiley2.

Something,I too have learnt.NEVER defend your star. Stars will get judged for everything. It is part of the game.I also NEVER praise their work. What is the point in fans praising their own favourites. It is like parents hyping/defending their own kids.No one likes that.

Absolutely vile. With no fear of God & sense of humanity. Sometimes I doubt if they are human actually.

If you are in the mood, fight.

If you don't like it, cutely ignore.

You Just have to ignore the negativity, some people be negative to try and annoy you, for some reason they find it enjoyable, which I'll never understand. You just have to be the bigger and better person, dont interact them and dont stoop to their level.

And the hatred some have for a star is a problem that they have, becuase it really isn't normal to have such a level of hatred for a star they dont know personally.

What an interesting thread!

I put a like to a lot of comments when I agreed with a good part of what had been written.

"hateful" and negativity - to me - just reflect a problem (or problems) the posters have themselves...their wording and wanting to hurt, I see as a venting of own frustrations.

My reactions mainly depend on my interpretation of the posting (so I can go wrong). However, no nasty comment goes into me as none of the commenters belong to my real life, but I like discussing, so mostly I react when I want to argue something...that's why I'm here smiley2
