South Indian directors recycle from other industries particularly Hollywood and Japan, just as much as everyone else. Odd double standard. 😆

I am curious how it goes for Rajamouli now with so much international attention. It's low key a struggle to find an original sequence in Baahubali.

I doubt 80% of Westerners who praised him even watched any of his films. They probably watched his film on Tiktok. It's just international PR's work... people under that PR's payroll hyped it up. It helped Mouli get a big HW agency/studio deal. He wants to be the next Ang Lee of HW, but I doubt he could even become the next Shyamalan. RRR was a huge pile of crap.

What about Eega? Is that crap too? Who do you think is the best director in India?

Eega was decent, I have to admit. But then again I watched it like a decade ago. Used to think like a bandwagoner.

Any film maker or artist for that matter often draws inspiration from minute details. Like they say most of the Universe is a discovery and scant invention. The South film lovers often draw comparisons and watch the films anyway for the nativity, Indian touch and appreciate it.

The very reason these films make it big on Pan Indian scale and the directors are aware of all the comparisons made on Social media platforms. The GoT segments in Bahubali or the Lion king references are visible and acknowledged.

Yet the film makers go Pan Indian highlighting the unique nativity that they bring to the platter which is definitely earning them all the respect. They are no fools to hide it especially in the age of Global cinema.

This movie Project K is an attempt to bring one such native story about the legend of lord Kalki to the world especially when internationally people want to explore different cultures to an extent that the film "Eternals" had the lead actors explore Sanskrit scriptures and have an Indian wedding.

So why not an Indian director present a futuristic film using technology imagined on his own tone while not loosing connect with the global audience drawing inspiration.

Taking inspiration and moulding it to a local context is very different from directly lifting entire frames. But I guess a sacred cow is a sacred cow. 😆
