But in an interview she said when she adopted her second child she intentionally stepped away to give her family more time coz she always felt she couldn’t do that with her first as she was working a lot back then.

She did have some commercial hits and her performance in films like Samay and the film itself was very good.

Ash herself also chose bad men. I mean story of Salman cheating Sangeeta and abusing Somy was still fresh when she still fell for Salman.

I also wonder why would anyone choose Vivek also after Salman?

Hema is another one who went after a married man who already had 4 kids and was also alcoholic and quite older than her. Meena Kumari also fell for much older, married man Kamal Amrohi. IDK why women lowered standards so much?

I agree with bold part. Maybe she was too ahead of her times, too tall, imposing screen presence at a time when heroine was supposed to be tiny or fragile and too advanced for a country like India where adoption was taboo, adopting as single, unmarried woman at 24 was taboo and being so open about BFs, partners was taboo.

Sush was like ahead of her times and often too open about her personal life. She's spoken about smoking and drinking issues openly too.

I have seen jealous, misogynist men and women troll her even till date online, saying she is not a real mother, no one becomes mother without giving birth or adoption does not make her mother or why she is not married etc.

Pics with Lalit Modi only got her more flak.

She has never fit mould of innocent Bharatiya nari that Indians expect from a heroine.

Yeah I have read she has her own businesses and investments and is a smart businesswoman and investor.

Movies and acting do not seem to be primary source of income. I have no clarity what businesses she does though.

Many people bash her and slander her character till date. I find that unfair.

Yeah thats true..but with Vivek - he was hot and happening when Aish decided to date him..TBH i have seen Vivek for real, when he was shooting for Saathiya..and he was a pretty smart looking guy in real life..back then he was with his then fiancee Gurmeet..had tons of attitude..but far better looking offscreen than on it..its the press conference that cost him his whole career..otherwise he was touted to be the next big thing after Kompany and Saathiya.

Meena Kumari at one point was also involved with Dharmendra..apparently he used her for connections in BW..or so I had read somewhere. I swear Hema had so many suitors..so many unmarried men falling for her..she could have just chosen from one of them and made her life easier..but IDK what is it with the BW actresses..they go for the most problematic one. I do feel they all suffer from some complex in their head..violated in and around men in the industry..and this whole perception about how actresses wont make for respectable wives..atleast back in that era..now however, I dont think thats true anymore..the younger generation is smarter..making better choices too.

I disagree about adopting kids at the age of 24 can be a reason.

Raveena also adopted two girls around the same age but still had a successful career despite self sabotaging her own career at her peak for 2 years, but came back and still had a successful career as she was ambitious.

I guess Sushmita though charming but lacked the masala of a hindi heroine onscreen, something was missing from her aura, she used to look like more of an international level suave model then a hindi cinema actress on the silver screen.

Also due to her built physique and thick bones (chaudi haddi) she more look like an "aurat" then a "girl" (same was the case with phool aur kaante fame Madhu who used to give more of an aunty /aurat type vibes then a girl due to the similar reason ).

And as others mentioned she herself confessed as been not that driven or ambitious.

She herself mentioned that she couldn’t enjoy the motherhood during Rene’s growing up period. So she adopted a second one and wanted to be full time mom only. She didn’t chase much for work either.
