He may have been better as an action hero instead... why not that?

I feel like SRK would do just fine without these people. He was alway meant to be successful 😎 they say no one can stop flowing river, that’s how no one could stop his success. His stars were aligned 😃

It’s just that these people or production house were more prominent that time. It’s not like they did favor to him. They took him in the movie cause he was good.

Well, I think, it doesn't need any discussion how movies SRK did with KJo and YRF helped establish a certain image of SRK.

However, with all the arguments, atominis, I got the feeling that you (and others) forget that it is ShahRukh's acting, screen presence, connection with the audience, way he transports emotions, off-screen persona and many other qualities that made an impact (even before Yashji casted him in Darr and KJo directed him in KKHH.

If ShahRukh haven't made such a rave as the mentally disturbed lover (it was HIS portray of Rahul that sidelined Deol's hero-role), do you think that Yashji would have told his son to try to convince ShahRukh to do DDLJ. This man simply knew that SRK had the quality to give a unique portrait to this Raj, especially in connection with Kajol (I bet he had watched Baazigar). In addition, I think, Yashji already had become very fond of ShahRukh.

YashUncle produced Duplicate and although the movie wasn't successful at the domestic BO, he saw those qualities in ShahRukh that made him give to Karan the needed financial support...and his faith in SRK's abilities was rewarded.

So, yes, through the movies done with these two production houses SRK rather quickly attained a position that made the media revel in naming him "Baadshah of Bollywood", "King Khan", "King of Romance".

Yes, atominis, in almost all of SRK's movies, there is a romantic angle...so what? It's mainstream Hindi Cinema...and SRK was always very clear that he wanted to be a larger-than-life star in Mainstream Cinema (which didn't hinder him to also be part of less mainstream movies like Maya Memsaab, ODYHI, Dil Se, Hey Ram, Swades, CDI, Paheli, JHMS and even Fan and Zero).

His action-oriented movies had romance, too...like hundreds and hundreds of Hindi/Indian movies before him. And as he knew that audience loved him in romantic scenes, writers and directors didn't see the need to exclude this trope (and why should they).Still SRK always tried to also choose movies that did not made his romantic avatar as the main plot...and then he even tried to go against his megastar-image.

How often did SRK get praised for his performance as an actor despite the movie not being successful at the domestic boxoffice?

One can argue about ATBB as long as one wishes, that doesn't take anything away from his effectiveness as an actor and filmstar.

Yankees, I bet, SRK is thankful to that fact.

Those with a liking for SRK are thankful, too, I suppose. I am.

The point of my thread wasn't to demean the fact that working with these two banners and they working with him so trustfully helped his career but to counter negatively biased assertions (as I did in the initial post) and to stress that they worked continuously with him because of his artistic prowess and his ability to connect with audience.

He would have made a good career as a film- actor in any way. Barry John advised him to take this path ... and he was right.

Bro! Srk Made KJO career. Who was KJO before KKHH? A guy who made cameo in DDLJ? Now lets count the movies. KKHH and K3G is still considered classic of KJO movie where his non srk movies considered average. Srk would never do movies like KANK or My name is Khan. But he only did for KJO. There are so many movies Srk did in his life out of love and not money. Srk faced so much criticism for KANK and he responded with so much love for KJO. And what did Kjo did? Lol Kjo forgot that how much Srk believed in him and now he is making cheapo movies lol

As for YRF, even yash chopra said he reached to new heights of success due to SRK. That is a fact. Darr will always be YRF classic movie. Then comes to DTPH, Veer Zaara. Srk mentioned in a interview that he does not even read a script with YRF directorial, that is how much he loved Yash Chopra. Remove Srk from those movies, and you will see that Srk was magic. The success Srk has reached is so magical. From a Villian character to Romantic actor. Beyond amazing!

But one thing i will say, Yash Chopra helped srk a lot to build in his confidence. Like from Darr to DDLJ was a great journey for SRK. Even Srk never thought he would be such a successful star and actor but Yash Chopra had this great vision that Srk will be it. And you know what? Yash Chopra was always been loyal to Srk unlike KJO. Yash Chopra stick to Srk and given him SO MUCH LOVE. I am sure Srk even today misses Yash Chopra a lot, not due to the movie but due to his love. And you can see that love in YRF Srk combo.

The previous two posts speak to my heart, to my feelings and to what I think, too.

I would like to know if there ever have been such two intense artistic and loving relationships as they have been between Yashji and SRK and SRK and Karan.

I can understand that there are SRK lovers who call Karan a snake but as for me, I think, SRK didn't want to follow Karan's path anymore. He may have done KANK out of love for him although being uncomfortable, but he did MNIK as a kind of swan-song of the relation Karan-SRK-Kajol and because of the subject and artistic challenge. Nevertheless, there had been - again - some different views how to present the story (as it has been in KANK already), so, I think, SRK just felt to let make Karan his experiences without him (the first step being to decline the role as the - gay - principal in SOTY). It's absolutely okay for me as Karan started to show a certain distancing from his first movies and became a sex-and gossip-obsessed industry-tycoon...not MY cup of tea.

Nothing irritates me more than people discrediting people of their success and giving credit to some one else....BW mein jo bikta hai wahi dikhta hai.......warna itne bade bade superstars ke bete flop ho kar baithe hain....the truth is no one will put their money on a langda horse.....jaise Yash ji ne paisa lagaya SRK per ...but not on apni khud ki aulaad....😆

Per my opinion, every BW product is a collaboration between different people. Nobody can 'make' anyone if they don't have it in them

SRK wouldn't be SRK if he wasn't talented. He was destined to be what he IS today.
