They threw fits when they saw romantic scenes of Ash with HR in Dhoom 2 and JA. Was Shweta living with them then?

Issue is not Shweta. Issue is Abhishek flopping altogether as lead hero. Earlier he had hope post success of Guru. Since last few years he has none.

Why would they tolerate Ash being successful when son is flopping even in web series?

I already tried to say that. I have always found the Bachchans old school. And I spoke of very concrete examples not assumptions. But looks like it was mistaken as some type of overconcern

I also bow out. Baat kaha se kaha pahunch gayi.

Mere baap ki tauba jo mahanayak aur uske pujya pavitra khaandaan ke baare me kuch bolu.

She spoke out and how against Salman. If she wanted to, she could walk out of the Bachchan family. She has the money and the support to live on her own. Unlike Jaya back in the 80s, this is 2022, and Abhishek doesn't come across as a vindictive jerk unlike his papa.

Some women stay because they weigh various factors and decide to stay.

However, that doesn't make the Bachchans blame free.

Her decision still doesn't mean she deserves bad treatment. It's a decision DESPITE the obvious cold shoulder.

Not just me, few others also have pointed out that Aishwarya fans are making her look like a bechari aurat. I already wrote, calling out Bachchans for their misogyny and regressiveness is absolutely fine but while doing so her fans are portraying her as a helpless woman stuck in an unhappy marriage. Whatever information I got from this thread are based on what people have seen and read on social media. Aishwarya never said she's unhappy with her husband and in-laws. Unless I hear from the horse's mouth everything in this thread is an assumption for me.

Bold- That's what even I said. If she's unhappy she can walk out of the marriage whenever she wants. She's financially independent, can take care of herself as well as her daughter but if she's not leaving Abhishek there must be some reason behind it.

I would look at things in different way. I know Bachchans are pathetic. I am well aware of the news that Sr. Bachchan asked Yash Chopra to edit out the Hrithik-Aishwarya kissing scene in Dhoom 2 and that was when Aishwarya was just his son's fiancee not even his wife. At the same time I think whatever choices Aishwarya made after her marriage with regards to her career were her own. There's no news that she was forced by the Bachchans to reduce doing movies after her marriage. Maybe it was her own choice to take a break from bollywood. There are anyway no good roles left for heroines. I am glad she rejected the flowerpot role in HNY which wouldn't have benefitted her career in anyway.

Disagree that Jaya had no money to walk out. She belonged to an influential family herself and was not dependent on Bachchans only. She stayed for sake of kids and in laws who favoured her.

Harivanshrai Bachchan and Teji saved her marriage to AB who was ready to leave her for Rekha.

Shwetas involvement somehow makes it a saas bahu nand kind of drama/issue...but there is a bigger picture behind all this and men of the house call all the shots... so its not a simple nand bhabi jhagda...

Exactly... Or maybe the fact that Ash couldn't give them a male heir

As others have replied to you, not every woman can easily walk out of marriage. Especially after having kids or if she married for security in first place or suffered abuse and threats earlier.

Plenty of reasons why women never walk out or speak. Zeenat Amaan also tolerated abuse from Mazhar Khan all life despite having all resources to walk out and dump him.

Reena Roy, Poonam Dhillon, Rati Agnihotri also suffered domestic abuse.

So did Dimple Kapadia.

Just because actresses did not walk out, it does not mean they never suffered.

I am not saying Abhishek is a wife beater or Bachchan seniors beat Ash. But I am responding to point on walking out or tolerating or not.

That said, I agree Aishwarya chose what she did. She knowingly married in this family. So yes she is not entirely a victim caught unaware here.

I am sorry but I can't believe a rich privileged financially independent woman like Aishwarya can't walk out from an unhappy marriage.

All the examples of actresses that you gave are divorced or separated.

Regarding the other post you tagged me, nowhere have I mentioned Jaya in any of my post 🙂 but still I want to answer. I don't think Jaya deserves any kind of appreciation or credit for living with a cheater husband for the sake of her in-laws and children.

Rich women also stay for various reasons.

Dimple never legally divorced RK.

Neetu Singh never left Rishi despite his affairs and domestic abuse in drunken fits.

Not all rich or famous women walk out of marriage.

They stay for various reasons like reputation or kids or security.

I mentioned Jaya as the part about her was in bold in a post you quoted in your post.

LOL! Rajesh Khanna was bigger superstar than Amitabh but he was a wife beater and paedo to marry underage Dimple when he was 35. And he will be called so.

Just as Dharmendra is called out for misogyny, philandering, using women and religion at own whims despite his being icon and Sanjay Dutt will always be misogynist, criminal, druggie no matter how iconic he is.

Salman is also iconic but he is bully, woman beater, animal killer, criminal and will be called out no matter how iconic he is.

Being iconic does not mean one cannot be called out. Amitabh is also communal and a genocide inciting maniac who incited mobs against Sikhs in 1984. He is also tainted in Bofors, Panama papers, Paradise leaks, illegal land deals at Barabanki. His affairs are known. Icon my foot!

Laughable to use Kabir's doha to defend tainted scum like Amitabh who would be in jail if not for political links. He is also elitist, promotes superstitions, uses and throws people at whim. Hardly did quality cinema in peak years except Hrishi da films.

His films too promoted misogyny. Do aur do Paanch for eg has him say a dialogue taking digs at menstruation saying tabiyat aurto ki kharab hoti hai har mahine, mard ki nahi.

So much for icon who cannot be called out.

Defenders of such icons love them because they relate to them. This is evident with rants in other threads abusing his wife for looks, defending affairs and abusing feminists, taking digs at both married and unmarried women by same sexist user in habit of using crude language for women.

I agree. But regarding animal killer almost everyone who eats meat is one. Tbh I never got that case against Salman just because one animal is a protected species and other animals eaten by humans are okay. I think most will be called animal killers.

Killing endangered wildlife is illegal. Black buck is not like fish or chicken. So meat eating comparison is not a defense.
