I have not seen it nor do I desire to watch Brahmastra. Did see the trailer , though, along with Lal Singh Chadda and was pretty certain that the cash registers would ring loudly. The audience would vote "with their wallets".

But why?

Do not even remotely suffer from the impression that it is a religious film. A cocktail of a fantasy and a love story, it could be said to belong at least partly to the Harry Potter genre.

It is produced by Karan Johar, dubbed a Hinduphobic. And stars the beef-eating Ranbir Kapoor and a lady with a liberal heart from a liberal family background - Alia Bhatt. And of course the Director himself is no khaki chaddiwallah.

The trolls had their fun here too. The Bajrangs were on the tree-tops swinging wildly at Ayan and Ranbir when they had gone to Ujjain to seek Lord Shiva's blessings.

Then why is it doing well -although it will take time to recover 450 crores? The market is difficult to accurately assess even for a Philip Kotler but it seems to be the casting , superb marketing, confusion on the name (rather cleverly selected, i should say) and finally the visual effects which drew the young hip crowd.
