LOL to ignore Salman's way bigger ATBBs like MPK, HAHK and call his other hits chindi while hyping even supporting or villain acts of SRK. Salman was neck to neck in popularity and BO. Salman is very much central star of MPK, HAHK. I doubt if HAHK would do as good if it had say, Vivek Mushran or Kumar Gaurav in it.

Rather Aamir has had best phase from 2001- 2015 with iconic films like Lagaan, DCH, RDB and record breaking streak from 2008 from Ghajini to 3 Idiots, PK, Dhoom 3 and Dangal whose records other Khans have not matched and will not match either.

SRK only kissed ass of media. Otherwise he was never as clear no.1 as made out to be.

Other stars boycotted media and awards nor did PR or self promotion. It does not mean they had less stardom.

He relied on jodi with one actress which he milked to the hilt. He relied on good music and NRI lover boy roles and foreign locations and became pet of YRF.

SRK never ever had raw stardom or power to draw audience like hordes without marketing. Heck. Even Sunny Deol's Gadar beat shit out of Khans', Dharmas, Chopras overhyped multi starrers shot abroad with same old jodidaar actress.

SRK always cashed on media. Or weak phases and breaks of other actors. Media is so kind to him that he is called king even though Aamir long overtook him since Ghajini and even new guys like Ranbir and Ranveer are giving bigger hits than this has been lover boy one trick pony.

Media overhyped SRK even in 1997 though it is Sunny's Border that was highest grosser of that year. SRK was down in 1999 when Salman gave hits like HSSH, Biwi no.1.

It is funny how credit for films of Salman or Aamir is given to script or heroine while credit for SRK hits in given to him even if he is newbie or villain like Darr (funny if people assume SRK got it opening) or in multi starrers like K3G.

Media compared Hrithik to Salman also due to his body and looks FYI and to Aamir also as HR had same perfectionist tendencies in acting or taking gaps between releases. He was rather called better than all 3 Khans and future all rounder superstar.

MPK was in the 80s. Enough has been said about HAHK. When he was the central figure, he could only give chindi hits like Judwaa and PTHHT. HSSH, Biwi No. 1 are circuses that cannot make any difference when your rival is giving DDLJ, DTPH and KKHH. I wouldn't be caught dead watching either set of films right now except for maybe DDLJ but back then there no comparison between SRK's YRF/Dharma outings and whatever Salman was doing post mid-90s.

You're going to mid 70s with Deewaar and Trishul lol. Chopra uncle had a very unflattering run as a director once he stopped working with AB and Salim Javed.

His one shirtless song O O jaane jaana created bigger rage than wet saree scenes and cleavage show of Madhuri and Kajol in DTPH and KKHH. Salman was someone who created rage on his own. Never needed to hold pallu of heroine in transparent sarees and suits to get noticed.

In looks, body and charisma he was always way ahead of SRK and single handedly inspired boys to work out. His fashion sense was always applauded and he was first male star to take dressing, watches, accessories seriously.

HSSH was not a chindi hit . It’s in top 10 for biggest hits of 90s and on par with DTPH
