Afghans, Iranians, a lot of Arabs/middle easterners, Indonesians, Malaysians, Russians, Chinese. Bollywood is popular among other cultures as well. However I don’t know if any of them are even close to the sheer number of Indian audiences not just in terms of numbers but profits as well.

CW is an American channel. I am guessing TM is talking about foreigners from America

RRR had good vfx…the animal faces look obviously cgi in closeups but that’s abt it….

The visuals in RRR were great.👍🏼

There is a reason why it’s found an audience overseas. They find it uninhibited and fun which is exactly what it set out to be.
And obviously they didn’t mind the vfx which is a huge triumph given they are used to marve/ Disney level cgi with huge budgets

Yes I agree. I was answering in general. There are other countries, predominantly in Asia, that enjoy Bollywood movies.

Well not exactly … CW network shows esp the vampire diaries , originals etc are globally famous .. so the comment could have come from a Korean or a Chinese too

This movie is NOT what the world wants from Bollywood. Unfortunately Bollywood is “lost” and has no identity itself

I think they are comparing with sci-fi dramas like legacies and VD 😆

Do you agree ?

I thought the vfx was good …maybe the colors were a bit tvish ..

I like Cw network Sitcoms 😆

Vfx and CGI are not all that impressive. I mean the ones they showcased in the trailer.

Why only foreigners even a section of the Indians residing in India are not impressed either.

It's not just about using VFX and CGI but it is about how well one uses them to enhance the story telling.

SSR knew how to use the CGI and VFX to convey what he wanted to say through them. It doesn't matter if they are tacky or world class. It's about how well they fit into the story and not the otherway round.

It looks like they wanted to VFX and CGI in a film and they wove the story around them.

Also, as someone pointed out , OS collections do matter for this film ..

Tacky effects or not RRR had a very compelling story of two men who rose up and roared against mighty British empire. The story may be fictional but there's nothing fictional about the kind of human beings these two are. So all the special effects and ridiculous stunts went very well with the characters.

Americans hate British empire even more than we do. The strong anti colonial sentiments were the reason behind the movie finding audience in both North America and Latin American countries.

If people bank only on Vfx and some ancient myths that Indians love to propagate in order to tell the world how advanced they are it most likely will not work.

West world created Brahmastra and already used it for real. So why will they be impressed about mythical Brahmastra?

OT: Mereko VFX ekdum chhapri laga. Aur trailer tha - chhapri VFX, ajeeb scene, chhapri VFX, doosra ajeeb scene, so on...

Away from topic, ek machhar ne batayela tha:

Khoon-ki-chuski With Machhar, S01 E01:

Machhar: Apan KJo ka khhoon chusne ku gayela tha. Tabhi udhar Ayaan Mukherjee dikh gaya. Woh kuchh discuss karrele the toh apun machhar on the wall ban gaya...

(Disclaimer 1: Original conversation English mein tha, apan idhar narrate kar relay sirf. )

Ayan: Apan ekdam dhasu pikchar banayenga. Ek superhero hai (bole toh Ranbir, obvious), aur uska superpower hoenga fire. Fire se attack karenga aur fire uska ghanta kuchh bigaad nahin sakta. Dragon maafik. Phir apan full too VFX dalenga. Blockbuster. Phod phaad ek dum bawaal.

KJo: Apan ismein Hindu mythology daalenga. Superhero pikchar mein God bhi aate fighting waeeting aur hero ka help karneku

Ayan: Pan woh superhero pikchar Greek/Roman/Norse religion ya ancient Egyptian religion ko use karte. Aaj koi bhi woh religion practice nahin karte. Toh kisiko ghanta farak nahin padta. Pan kuchh ultra religious Hindu public ko bura lag sakta agar Hinduism use kiya toh....

KJo: (woh achanak upar dekh rela tha. Uske pupil gayabich ho gaya. Bole toh eye roll.) Religion ka naam sunke public theater aayengi.

Ayaan: Phir apan Islam religion ke kuchh figures ko bhi use karein kya? More than 95% population cover ho jayenga

KJo: Yeda ho gayela hai kya?

Ayaan: Dekha? Tumko realize karwaaneka tha ki religion ko laana not good idea

KJo: Chalre jasti shyaana mat ban. (Noton ki gaddi nikalke) tereko pikchar banaaneko maangta ki nahin

Ayaan: Hau hau

KJo: Woh koi mythical weapon honeko maangta. Lord Shiv, aur 2 more Gods hain... ek koi unmein se ne banayela tha

Ayaan: Brahmastra?

KJo: (kood ke) WAHICH WAHICH. wahich naam honga. Kuchh God pe daalenge plot. Aur VFX VFX VFX aur VFX. Plus heroine sirf Alia honeko maangta. I mean obvious phirbhi bolrela hoon......

Yeh sab bataate hue us machhar ke moonh se foam aarela tha aur woh udharich (poisoning se) mar gaya bechara...

(Disclaimer 2: Yeh sab nahin bhi huela honga. Apun kisi bhi baat ke accuracy ki guarantee nahin le relay 🤓)
