They won’t and not because they shouldn’t but because they’ll receive a world of backlash for having not taken back the Oscar from Kevin Spacey, Harvey Weinstein, and actually giving one to Roman Polanski.

What they should have done was that immediately after the slap happened Will Smith should have been escorted out of the building. The company responsible for tallying the votes could have made an emergency decision and rescinded his win and given the award to the next person. But no one acted on it last night and now here we are. At this point the best that can happen is he’ll be banned from attending the academy awards again.
