All these ridiculous comparisons between Bollywood's last true superstar - a beloved actress with incomparable commercial appeal, a wide range of roles (some of whom were praised even by the Madhuri-unfriendly critics) and genres, and no need to ever buy favourable reviews - and that nepo princess who had been pushed down audiences' throats for years based on... what special skills, exactly? You really believe that Johar's protégé represents the best of what a billion-people country has to offer? You're ready to embarrass yourselves here just because it's a popular thing on this forum to diss Madhuri? 👎🏼

Because Abhishek is someone who is still getting work despite being rejected multiple times, so he's someone who proves how privileged nepokids are.

Comparison itself is wrong. Abhishek came at a time when actors used to do multiple films in a year and nobody expected all of them to work. Even successful actors had a string of Flops for years.

Movies were completely dependent on WOM and that's why a debutante like Hrithik could give highest grosser of the year. That's impossible today because a lot of factors matter.

Trailer views, PR, promotion, hype, release date all play a huge role in a movie becoming a Hit. Not just the content or stardom.

Disagree …movies are still dependent on wom…openings are dependent on pr, hype etc …

Which is why badhaai ho, pushpa , uri etc managed to get the collections that they did in the Hindi market despite not having great openings …
Long run of the film is still deemed an important factor in deciding whether it is a hit or flop

This thread, IIRC, is not nepo vs non nepo.

Alia is a good actress, and Bollywood has every right to promote someone who makes them the RoI, nepo or otherwise.

Problem is she's being lauded as Madhuri, Vidya/Tabu/PC/Meryl Streep, Amitabh Bachchan combined when she's nowhere close to even one of those legends. That ain't about her being nepo That's just about making her out to be something she isn't. Yeah, she's gonna get trolled for that. Just like Deepika got trolled for calling herself Smita Patil.

I mean, Hrithik Roshan is a nepo kid who's mega successful. He's not promoting himself as Anthony Hopkins, Michael Jackson, and Amitabh Bachchan combined.
