Sure but its not an objective way to measure a movie's quality. Lots of bad movies make money while good movies flop. Deepika never said this movie was as successful as Lagaan or 3 Idiots but that the critical reception is similiar

Have you ever had people telling you about the weekend or first day collection when asking about any movie!? It's all " One time watch", " The movie is good", " actor/actress nailed it" blablabla. Sometimes box office numbers are a very good publicity.

Ppl don’t discuss collections but u can tell the reception of a successful movie from an unsuccessful “acclaimed” one

For eg, when I asked abt 83 my relatives said “oh yeh it was nice ..ranveer did well”

I remember when I asked abt 3 idiots or baahubali, they not only said it was amazing but offered to look for tickets for the next show and join me for it since they didn’t mind watching it a second time

Second response is usually what happens for really big box office successes ….

True but I really want to know do people go to watch a movie after getting to know the box office numbers!? I am genuinely curious because I am from South, we as a audience don't even acknowledge these kind of stuff until Bahubali came we don't keep a check on these stuff. Even our newspapers don't publish this weekend collection and all. We have quite a successful movies here which I don't know is 100c or not but we always call it blockbuster and all. This is how it's going on for so many decades. For small budget movies, these kind of box office numbers matters but when it comes to a big project like this, they might have already minted through satellite rights, OTT platform and all so box office is going to be just added bonus for them.

The problem is that regular people have been exposed to these numbers in last 7-8 years so much that they equate it with the quality of the film. Then they think it's nad if low numbers and don't go
