should have compared it to swades..thats a more appropriate comparison..a critically praised FLOP..she is being smart in trying to put it in same league as Blockbuster movies like 3 idiots..which is far the case

Good point, its definitely more comparable with Swades but they think it only flopped because of Covid (guess we will never know)

Lagaan was a classic and original story in 83 we knew what will happen, its most boring movie to watch, documentary type movies are not remembered.

Compared to Lagaan and Chak de where till the last moment there was suspense, I remember the theatres would erupt with joy and whistles.

83 is a known story so everybody knew the outcome, with a very very less budget this would have been a success.

It also lagged the emotional and family quotient of Dhoni or a Mary Kom.

To be honest , the interviews with the 83 cricketers were very entertaining when they were speaking about their time.

It had the classic underdog who no one believed in and who came through it would have been a sure shot blockbuster of another director had directed it. He made it too much multiplex whereas a boy from Haryana who could not speak good English won the World Cup in England that would have appealed to the rural areas.

I am actually flabbergasted that Kabir did not use so many real life incidents which the cricketers were taking about,

Though the actors were good, Kabir lacked what Ashutosh brought in.

This proved that Deepika and Ranveer do not pull in the crowd and it is only because of the film content that their movies do well.

In fact nobody from the new generation is able to bring in just by their names it is alway about the content now.
