That's why not only South but everywhere in India people love him. I know South industry is laden with nepo products, but let's agree that they are somehow better than Bollywood's nepo gang.

Pardon my ignorance, but who are Jr.NtR and Charan?

We are in the open forum, no need to be sorry. I agree that Allu Arjun is exceptionally talented and deserves all the recognition he is getting. But to think that he is where he is only because of his talent, is just as much an exaggeration as thinking that he is better than any one else in the entire India.

@Bold: Both of them are the stars in Rajamouli’s upcoming RRR. Jr.NTR is the grandson of the Legendary Telugu Film actor late N T Rama Rao and Charan is the son of the Telugu Superstar Chiranjeevi. There is heavy nepotism in the Telugu Industry with these people squashing any and every outsider. They do everything from hogging all the best directors, productions to themselves to even hogging all the screens to themselves not even letting the one odd outsider guy have a decent release. Allu Arjun’s dad owns a Production house which is so rich that he can actually buy the entire Bollywood industry and keep it in his pocket. lol.

Jersey and RRR will make the oicture clear. Prithviraj may get postponed.

I think multiplexes will suffer more. Middle class is more careful.

The working class, cannot afford to sit at home and work from home . They are out and about delivering stuff, selling their wares, driving cabs..

Than horrible story telling

Dialogues are even not worth remembering

Did someone say music whats that?

Lyrics is gaalis and daaru bottle

Hero is ranbir and varun etc who look like road side guys plus no acting skills

and you want people to watch bollywood movies

Netfilx hollywood and south are better

Even if hero heroine do not look gora chitta hirthik katrina types types they know acting and story is good so is music and direction

One of the unintended side effects of the pandemic was Indian movie goers got a good look at non-BW fare.

Bw will either have to shape up or go under.

I have a feeling they are going to learn the entirely wrong lessons from it, though.

My predictions:

1) a whole bunch of mediocre movies will be dumped onto OTT, and they will keep doing that until Netflix/Amazon/Hotstar realize subscribers are not watching.

2) Those who go for theatricals are going to assume certain trends work.

Only a person with no clue about Telugu films would say that.

Regional movies are doing good despite covid. I believe newer generations don't know about 83 players and it didn't have that trendy vibe for people to come to theatres. Ayushman's movie with LGBT topic, you can compare it with his Shubh Mangal Zyada which didn't fare as well. IMO, BW hasn't released any typical mass appeal movie yet.

Thanks a lot.

Yes I agree that south industry is filled with nepo products, but somehow those nepo products are better than bollywood ones. If you see stars like Allu Arjun, Mahesh Babu etc have delivered some biggest blockbusters and also have Pan Indian appeal. It's not like bollywood where you churn duds after duds still get chances. Some of ousiders are also getting good chances like that Arjun Reddy guy. He is now one of the most sought-after actor now.

Nepotism is everywhere. But you need to prove your mettle. Which is just reverse in bollywood. Most of Bollywood's nepo products are mediocre and people like Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt etc are shoved down on us as if they are blessings happen to film industry. Level of mediocrity on display.

if the current scenario continues and jersey makes some money bollywood is going to purchase the right of every single south movie and churn out boring over the top south replicas

if rrr clicks then bollywood may even cast south actors in most of their movies.

Let’s see where this will all take us. Hopefully BW folks will learn to overcome this phase by coming up with even better content. 👍🏼

There are clans in those industries.

Allu Arjun is not a top-notch actor but definitely a talented dancer and entertainer and as much I hate his films his stardom among youngsters in 4 south Indian states is undeniable. And with the success of Pushpa in North India I believe he found audience in north as well. Pushpa was not even a great film ,but the songs were catchy .

Pre COVID scenario if the moviegoers used to watch minimum 3 movie in a month in theatre it has reduced substantially especially among the family audience and above 30 years old adults . They will watch it only if theatre experience is required. Even a movie of super star Rajnikanth didn't collect the expected money , movie of Mohanlal tanked ,Rohit Shetty's movie didn't collect the expected money even though it was his genre, a sports movie especially the movie based on cricket despite of excellent WOM failed to bring audience to theatre. It all shows that the target audience is not the same . It is mainly young adults and the working class unless it is something like Spiderman which demands theatre experience. A person like me will think that I can get Netflix subscription instead of spending money on an average movie and prime subscription with the money I probably will spend on popcorn .

Bollywood should realise that the last superstars were Khans and even their stardom has faded. If the budget is high spend it on exceptionally good visuals and cinematography, not on promotion. Post COVID the best thing is making small budget movies with good screenplay for both OTT and theatre and big budget, larger than life movie with exceptional script for theatre.
