It was after Varun and Alia that the whole nepotism came, Abhishek is a clear example where he is a decent actor and was offered multiple roles but he rejected so many of them and his script sense is screwed.

I don't think he was ever invested in acting and he never put in the effort to look a part. He did roles where it was more of a sleep through than to put in that effort. He should have stuck to business and not acting. I mean Amitabh at 60s and 70s changes his looks, be it Paa, Black, Cheeni Kum, Piku even for that matter KBC the way he talks, walks you can see that he clearly loves his job, hell even the green shoes he wore at KBC became a style statement.

Nepotism gives you many chances and great scripts but Abhishek rejected a whole lot of th and chose medicore ones , and as much as Alia or Ranbir are very very average actors at best atleast they did choose some great scripts at least till a couple of years back

Nope - Nepotism became talk of the town after Kangana brought it to the light by openly talking about it while simultaneously KJo shoved Alia down the throat time and again. And with Sushant's passing, it got extreme momentum!

So now most of the star kids are seen in the same frame - Some a lot more and some not as much, but majority star kids can't simply throttle through the game without being glared with the glasses of Nepotism!

And in a way it is good that they face the scrutiny now when back in the time most of them got a free pass!

Abishek and Ranbir atleast know how to act well. They are not Tiger who believes acting mean showing his plastic surgery abs.

But if Tiger is getting bigger returns cash money wise than Abhishek doesn’t that means Tiger is doing something right.

People is broad and NOT everyone hates star kids. But I guess a good motive for hating someone you do not know or has never done you any harm MUST be envy and frustration at the blessings or advantages they have and you don't in life, just because they are born privileged. It is just that some people have to work or prove themselves to attain what is a birthright for some very lucky individuals and that is what they "hate" It's more like they resent the parents that had them in a lowly station.

I am grateful to my parents and hate NO star/rich kid. "A quien DIOS se lo da que San Pedro se lo bendiga"

Tiger does not leave his producers bankrupt unlike Abhishek.

To be fair Tiger has worked hard on his body, dance and martial arts skills due to which younger audience likes watching him even if he is not a great actor or good at emoting. Unlike Abhishek who is not having basic fitness, has no dance skills and probably never learnt any martial arts and is okay in action scenes, barely matched even Ajay, Akshay, Sunil or his own dad in action scenes.

If not acting chops, Tiger atleast keeps audience entertained with stunts and dance moves besides his super fit body. He is eye candy that Abhishek never was nor attempted or worked hard to be.

Abhishek is good in shy or intense roles like Yuva, Guru. He is the only watchable actor in otherwise insufferable Main Prem ki Deewani hu. He managed comedy well in Bunty Aur Babli and Bol Bachchan. But never went into artsy, offbeat zone nor made effort to learn dance or martial arts or work on his physical fitness in era of biceps and 8 pack abs. Abhishek was never eye candy or pure entertainer material.

More than fans it is the PR and media that overhypes star kids too much. I remember articles comparing Jhanvi's stills from Dhadak to Sridevi in English Vinglish which was just laughable. Jhanvi is what she is but she cannot be compared to Sridevi even before her debut. She never looked or sounded like Sridevi and lacks charisma, onscreen presence and talent of Sridevi. Still it is media that wants audience to believe she looks like her mom or matched her footsteps, which she clearly did not. Not yet.

In this sense Deols were better that they never overdid PR when Dharam launched Sunny nor did Sunny ever compare himself to his dad or claimed to step in his shoes. That helped Sunny carve his own image and slowly find his own niche without unnecessary comparisons to his dad or attempting to pay tributes to his dad or look like him or beg for attention and sympathy using his dad.

I do agree fans are annoying. Especially if they are fans of the kid's father or mother. Amitabh fans blame today's audience and all actors post 2000 for Abhishek not being able to succeed as top hero and often blame Khans also besides special resentment towards Hrithik who overshadowed him entirely in 2000 when he debuted and again in 2006 in Dhoom 2. Fans often take it as some moral obligation to ensure success of their favourite star's kids or want to see reflection of their fav star in the starkid. Some bhakt type fans keep praising star kid even if he or she is not in films yet or is flop or clearly bad at acting. Probably to impress the star mom or dad they are fans of originally. That just looks like sycophancy and chamchagiri.
