Bdw, I have been told by grandparents, great grandparents tat among us punjabis
Hindus ... women never put sindoor. It’s a recent practice. They put only bindis and wore mangalsutra. Kept their head covered with dupatta.
Long sindoor trend got popular after Tv serials.
Growing up never saw any lady with popping sindoor in Gujarati culture. My mom never did that and neither my grandmothers. Now I see everyone’s doing a sindoor and some even keeping Karvachauth and this whole set of trends. Ganesh Chaturthi was never celebrated extravagant in Gujarat. Now lot of people get Ganesh ji and there’s a function in every maholla.
New trend this year that I am hearing of is, wear Western long gowns in Navratri. Different outfits for 9 days and this will one of them. 😆

same none of this exist in kerala also. the only fesitval we celebrate is onam and vishu..not even diwali 😭
not sure why we are making these rituals a pan india thing...
kerala wedding ceremony I think is the shortest...but thesedays they are also heavily influenced by bollywood so started mehendi etc..which wasnt there earlier..bride never used to apply mehendi

Kanyadaan ka ho gaya. ab what's next?
Why is mangalsutra tied to women and not to men?
Why should groom put Sindoor on bride's maang, why not it's the other way round?
What I am gonna do with my kids.
Raise them well. Educate them both. Spend same money. Support their ambitions. and then save for my retirement. Once we are gone, everything that’s left will equally go to both kids.
No extravagant wedding expenses and no dowry, no bete ko sari property thingy. Equal business and that is all.
Personally if you don’t want this rituals, you gotta earn and spend on your own wedding. If you want 15 lakh ka lahenga, and if papa is giving you that money, you gotta do all rituals as papa wants. Lol. Fir waha aapki choice kam and papa ki choice jyada ho jayegi.
I and my husband did that. We got married in front of 100 people with our own money. Parents didn’t have to spend. To want certain things, you gotta work for it.
I wear no mangalsutra, no sindoor and didn’t take husband’s last name either. Complaints karne se kuch nai hota. Get up and work towards it. (For those who can.)
I have seen both set of girls. Who gets imposed these rituals and have no say.
But also a group of girls, they have their ways, not independent and yet have whims and fancies.
In these times, I find it really hard to generalize a particular gender. There’s a different case wherever I look.

Pata toh chale akhir aap log chahte kya ho..
May i ask how it is done in your community so that we can follow and improvise?
yehi chahte hi ki aise riwaazo ke naam lekar ladki ka jeena mushkil na kare bas ..let her have a choice to take karwvachauth or not..let her have freedom to put sindoor after wedding or not ...lekin we know what happens if they dont...taanebaazi zindabad 🤣
