Let’s be clear here before making fractions on how much percent of any religion you are. You can be quarter Christian, quarter Muslim, quarter Hindu, quarter Buddhist, but that all means jack if you affiliate yourself with the one religion. If I was born to half Christian & half Muslim parents but decide to follow Christianity only, then that makes me a Christian - not a half baked one. Vice versa.

Anyhow on topic with Saif & Kareena. Their baby, their business. I’ve seen names that are much worse. There was a newborn baby at my workplace whose name was Semen. Let that sink in. His mother carried that child in her womb for 9 months, and after an excruciating birth, the parents looked upon their newborn babies face and thought, wow my son looks like a sperm. Let us name him SEMEN.

Also, I get that some names are associated with problematic people in the past but this is the chance for future generations to make a difference with their names. Maybe Taimur and Jehangir Ali Khan will become the PM of India one day (and bring positive changes to the world) or might take up a profession that saves lives instead, then finally people can start associating these names with good people. Shit guys, it’s just a name. It’s not so deep. Who gives a fcuk. The kids are still going to be richer at age 3, then I’ll ever be in my entire life. Now that is a more tragic story in my opinion. Please give me money.

i find it so funny that throughout this topic u can clearly spot the racism and ignorance and u still have to ask this question? Look how severe of a rxn the people on this topic are having to a name. (Peep post above).

I believe that Saif and Kareena are just seeking attention as except for their kitty party friends no one actually gives them attention nor they are in the news. Not why suddenly Saif would name his sons over people who have destroyed humanity. His first two children are Sara and Ibrahim which are common names. Not if you are the citizens of India, you eat ,breathe and in their case party also why would you name your children which hurt people sentiments.

But yet, you are the one who brought religion into this thread. The others were just talking about keeping a non controversial Muslim name because Taimur and Jehangir bring in bad memories- not just to Hindus BTW because they killed Muslims also with the same heartlessness.

There are many posts that was attacking the muslim names, read the topic that's why I responded. They had problems with kareena naming her child a muslim name and they said it should've been hindu or christian name or a name that has both religions and another person said they should name their kids other religion names not muslim names. Some complained saying she is erasing her mom's side by naming her child a muslim name and etc.

I don't know the history behind taimur and jehangir so I don't know who they are. Evil people comes in different forms. But there are so many people with same name does not mean they have same personality or they are going to have the same journey. Everybody is different. Someone with your name might be in jail and did something horrible. I like the name taimur, don't like jehangir maybe jeh might've been better. You don't know what is going to happen tomorrow, if you think today a name is clean and no history of violence, someone with that same name will create problem and a teenager with same name will face racism, I know that happened in school

How is it ignorant? SRK is married to a Hindu woman and those children belong to her as much as they do to him. It's only appropriate that they choose names that honor their mother too instead of swinging to the hardcore Muslim side. What's wrong with appreciating that?

India is very patriarchal and the father's religion and customs usually dominate in everything. Even with Hrithik and Sussanne, I've always found it weird and even mentioned it here that they keep releasing pictures and videos of the family following Hindu customs but nothing related to Islam even though their mother is Muslim.

Why should this kind of patriarchy be applauded? It's good that the father's customs don't dominate everything in SRK/Gauri's family.

Why are we even discussing religion here? Why is it so hard for people to believe that maybe these celebrities, be it Saif-Kareena, SRK-Gauri or whoever gave their children names that both partners liked and it has nothing to do with the religion either of them follows? It really can be as simple as liking a name and the meaning behind it than anything else.

Exactly. My family is Afghan and we are Muslims but my sisters name is Simran. Why? Because my mum is a hardcore DDLJ fan. I can vouch, that she’s most likely the first Simran in our culture and hopefully not the last. My mum liked the movie, she liked the name. It can be as simple as that.

I get what you're saying but I think this is precisely the problem people have with it. They don't want these names whitewashed. For people who feel oppressed or victimized by certain figures, the last thing they want is that name now being associated with something cute and sweet. Do you think Germans would accept a German celebrity naming their kid Hitler? You won't be able to say 'what's in a name' then. People would be extremely offended. When there are millions of names you can choose from, what is the need to pick certain reviled ones? It's about creating unnecessary controversies and poking people for no reason.
