I think MMD tagged here has explained it really well, if you really need to understand why a name like "Taimur" is problematic then you will have to study some Indian history itself. Say, one day, a President/King etc attacks your country, kills people, breaks down Mosques, loots them, rapes women., and devastates it completely. His name goes down in history for that. How would you feel if someone names the kid after that invader.

Them naming Jehangir provocative and is another issue entirely.

Like "aa bael mujhe maar". Since we know naming after kings is not an accident. It is deliberate.. & they most certainly didn't name him Taimur because they liked the name. They named him after Taimur!

Hindu god Ram also did a lot of questionable things. That didn't stop people from naming their kids after him, so what's Jehangir?

I find it hilarious that people can assume we are bigots, but we can't assume Kareena and Saif are doing it for provocation and publicity.😆

As if they deliberately name him like that to tease public. I may be wrong.

Taimur or Jehangir , both look nice names with good meaning.

But these names are associated with hardcore criminality if we look at the history of India.

Saif's sister Soha also named her daughter Anaya, which is a common muslim name, extremely popular amongst Pakistanis right now and she's married to a hindu Kunal Khemu.

Shahid Kapur - his own name Shahid is a muslim name, his mum is muslim and dad is not still muslim name. Even his children Misha is not really a muslim or hindu name but Zain is a muslim name and Shahid isn't a muslilm.

Idk most of the comments on the first page allude to religion so I was saying this. I didn't read the entire 30 pages obviously, I'm not that nuts 😆

I knew it the minute I saw the name trending on twitter, this must be about Saif and Kareena named their son Jehangir. Predictable after the Taimur name controversy so totally avoidable but they did not even try it seems. Taimur's name already created so much meltdowns to the point Saif later on said he was willing to change his name back then but Bebo held on... they should have known.

I know it is the parent's business and they can name their child anything they want (in the west we have celebs naming children Apple, Rocket, and that weird name of Elon Musk recent baby) but why would you subject your child to such trolling and abuse? Never understood this...

Also I really wonder what is Saif's thought process was when naming the children. The first two were traditional, very common arabic version (name) of figures revered in all 3 Abrahamic religions; Abraham and his wife Sarah. Now he is going for Taimur and Jehangir; people they surely would know will be a polarizing and controversial names to most Indians. Maybe he trying to show off his history knowledge, Bebo once did call him a historian after all. If they want to go for arabic names only also there are tons of names that are neutral and non-controversial.

I feel bad for both Taimur an Jehangir. Feel bad in general for children with names that they would get bullied and trolled for the rest of their lives.
