What was really the fault of Anshuman in Jab We Met? - Page 8

Anshuman was casually dating Geet and never intended to marry her. However, he was well aware all along of the marriage fantasies Geet was harboring. Yet, he never seems to have made any real efforts to dissuade her.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with casually dating someone - as long as people are on the same page. As soon as one person starts expecting more it is time to have a mature conversation to see if both can return to the same page or break up.

Anshuman's fault is that he was extremely immature. He did not think through the consequences of Geet falling for him. He led her along till the point of her running away for him. He never had a real talk to get on the same page but then gaslit her for acting on emotions she had been transparent about.

If he was merely immature and did not know how to break up like an adult - it is forgivable. Its an adulting skill that takes time to learn. But if he was having fun and wanted to enjoy the intimacy until he was ready to move on then he is a giant asshole.

And yeah, Geet is an idiot for not making sure the guy is on the same page before leaving behind her family. Unless he is with you helping every step of the way and has a plan - the dude is never worth it.

She did not even tell anyone in her family about Anshuman when she could have easily told her parents or even sister Roop about it. We don't even know that Anshuman was actually into her or not, maybe he was just trying to save her izzat by trying to marry her.

A bit off topic but Roop was much more attractive than Geet. Aditya dropped a catch there.

Now Roop is India’s beloved Bhabhiji.

I remember some tv segment on Mother’s Day. Her mom was like she was so pretty as a kid that people would come just to see her.

Actually, when Geets family turned up at Aditya's office, Aditya told them that he and Geet were together so they were under the impression that Geet and Aditya were married already and wanted their daughter back at any cost and also thought that Aditya was actually rich also helped the cause.

About Anshuman, If he actually cared about Geet, he could have responsed differently when she eloped, maybe given her shelter, even if he didn't want to marry her and maybe after that called her home and informed them. And if no, he didn't care about her, he should have just left like that. Why again came back, wanting to marry her after all the gaalis he got from both Aditya and Geet. Like not only sorry, he wanted to marry, what even changed after 9 months???

Yes, Geet is foolish to elope like that without informing yesss but Anshuman was in more wrong who despite knowing everything about her wishes and dreams of marrying, led her.

Yes, Anshuman knew her intention, in the last segment of movie, he himself mentions all that in sugarcane field.

But, all in all, filmy movie. People like Anshuman can be available so easily every where. But, there can't be anyone like Aditya in real life. And, I doubt anyone like Geet would be there too. Losing the train two times, and how was her relation with Roop, I am still confused. Like, she bluntly told her, she had to elope with Aditya. But, no, didn't tell a thing about Anshuman. Why?

Looking by the likes on this topic, I think people on this forum are very filmy and far from reality. They enjoy characters like Rahul (KKHH), Aman (KHNH) and Geet. To be honest, if the genders are reversed and if the guy acts like Geet he would probably be reported for harassment by the girls family and have his life ruined. There is no clarity on whether Anshuman promised to marry her or not and as I said already, we dont know his side of the story so its not okay to assume anything and as for him agreeing to marry her, it was probably out of guilt.

Perhaps she had a crush on Anshuman and perhaps he liked the attention from her. I don't know though, if he was ever committed to her or it was a mutual thing between them officially. Maybe it was mostly in her mind and more of a one-way thing.

Remember Geet babbling to Aditya on the train while he's zoning her out. She clearly mentions how Anshuman had visited her multiple times at her hostel. She's childish and immature but she didn't imagine the whole relationship. Her fault was being overly optimistic.She's an absolute believer of Paulo Coelho's philosophy "When you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it." The second half of the movie is about her growing up and realizing that it only happens occasionally in life. Anshuman was never serious about her. Her value went up once he realized that the rich young milliionaire Aditya Kashyap is interested in her.

But all I felt throughout, was that he liked her attention but like you mentioned, he wasn't ever serious about her. So in a way, Geet was idealizing him more than she should have and yes, he definitely took her more seriously after she hung out with Aditya. IDK if it was her cussing him on the phone, that triggered him to respect her and not take her for granted, or her hanging out with Aditya or maybe a mix of both.

like all the bad guys in BW movies, it might have been an egoistical thing and Geet didn’t even love Aditya until the phone call scene and it was made apparent when Aditya meets him at his office and he recognizes him bc of his empire and not bc geet told him about him. So that was another KLPD for Aditya. The fact is that Anshuman was not wrong if you look at it from his perspective. He was just having a casual fling with her and Geet who’s immature and a typical small town girl thought he wanted to marry her. Being in a relationship and marriage is a big leap, you can’t expect someone to marry you just because your in relationship. Bechara Anshuman might just be finding his feet in professional and this idiot comes to his house and telling him to marry her. Marriage is not just about love
