What was really the fault of Anshuman in Jab We Met?

I'm not even sure that he and Geet even had a casual relationship. Most probably a one-sided crush from Geet which Anshuman found cute and childish considering her nature. He never reciprocated his love but Geet being an idiot ran away from her home even without telling him anything. She probably thought that he would have to accept her considering that she left everything for him, just like it happens in movies. But when he rejected her love and whatever sacrifice she thought she was giving for him, reality struck her and she realized that this is real life, not a feature film.

But still Aditya painted Anshuman as a jerk who used Geet. When actually there was no fault of his that a crazy girl is in love with him but he doesn't feel the same way about her. Geet calling him and abusing him after so many months just made him feel guilty of being the cause of her sufferings. He was ready to marry Geet only to save her honour and also that she could return back to her family. But then at the last moment Geet realizes that no, she actually loves Aditya and ditches Anshuman. Doesn't even apologize to him for causing him so much trouble. How can anyone not feel bad for this guy? I legit felt sad for him that he got caught up in the mess of two confused people who are not sure about their feelings.

I also don't know why the character of Geet is glorified and loved so much when she nothing more than an IDIOT!!!

I want to defend this but maybe later..

I have watched this zillionth time but haven't actually understood the things which he throws with his car; were they keys, ring?, mobile?

And why didn't he throw wallet? He just wanted to die right? So, why took the wallet..

And did he get the car back? Or was it another car where he and Geet went her home? Or was it a taxi?

It was clearly stated in the movie that Anshuman was Geet's boyfriend. It seems like Anshuman was never serious about this relationship, forget about marrying her. But naive small town girl Geet started dreaming of marrying him like any other Asian girl would have, hence Geet is not here to be blamed. Anshuman never rejected her love, but rather refused to accept her as a wife when she insisted to marry him. Their whole relationship status was portrayed pretty well in "Aaoge jab tum o sajna" song. Anshuman should be at fault because he never bothered to know how Geet might had been doing during the entire time when Geet was a runaway and had been living all alone by herself. Even Anshuman himself later on admitted to Geet that he was at fault, if Aditya was wrong to judge Anshuman then Anshuman would have never accepted his mistake. Hence it's absurd to say that Anshuman was nothing but a crush of Geet! I mean where is this coming from??😳😳

Anshuman was totally not at fault

Geet and Anshuman were in a relationship where the former was more serious (one man woman), she even ran away from her own wedding and baaammm without any calls, msg/information she comes in front of him with his whole family watching with the decision of getting married. He got shocked/surprised/scared as any of the JERK boyfriends who MAY promise about the sun and the moon and then step back just when they are needed. I remember the kismat song where the girl too runs away and the boy doesn't accept her and gets married- it's the same scenario here👍🏼

@ harly_quinn it's really great that you always judge the characters with the third perspective👏 I really want to know your views about genelia's character aditi (meow) from jaane tu ya jaane na😳

It seems like a classic case of gaslighting. They were in a relationship, he promised her moon and stars. She believed him and when the time came, he rejected her. Kicked her out and called her crazy. This is what happens with a lot of men - this hot and cold behaviour, giving breadcrumbs and when women get serious, they tell her that she is being crazy. If he had no intentions of marrying her, he should have told her. She had to run away because otherwise she would have been forcefully married to the guy she didn't love. Ayushman was definitely at wrong. If he did not wanted to marry her, he could have told her and atleast should have made sure that she went home safe or had a safe place to live.

Whatever it is they were in a relationship, you can't change that it's not that he rejected to be in a relationship with her. Geet isn't at fault here so why should she apologize to him?

If my boyfriend acted like Geet, I'd certainly put a restraining order on him.

For some reason ditzy, talkative, scatterbrain heroines are loved in Indian movies (and they’re getting ditzier very decade) even though in real life desis have no patience for such young woman and she would be treated harshly and no, she wouldn’t be lucky like Geet who gets rescued by a kind hearted nun.

Geet was not ditzy. She was talkative naive yes but she was very smart also she knew how to avoid rishta using Aditya, she knew how to make him take her home. Even when alonenin a station she managed to be assertive and get her luggage prpblem solved. After beig left by Anshuman she didnt go back crying to her home she understood the weightage of her decision and did a job to get by and did the best she could in that situation.Later also she didnt settle for Anshuman and chose what she knew will make her happy. Being feminine and a dreamer doesnt make anyone ditzy.

Bit yeah she did have manic pixie dream girl tropes specially in the first half. All imtiaz ali heroines r manic pixie dream girls specially Tara in Tamasha
