So many overly hyped wins from filmfare

I have seen 8 Mile and there were hardly any similarities apart from the fact that it is about a rapper's journey from the wrong side of the tracks to stardom and there is a rap battle in it. That's hardly a new concept- all rappers and musicians' stories usually have this 'rags to riches' aspect.

Zoya is incredibly talented and her show Made In Heaven written by Reema and her just got nominated for an acting Emmy. Arjun Mathur did the work obviously but they wrote Karan's amazing role so obviously there is real talent there.

Gully boy was crap and not sure why it got so many awards😆

One is still understandable but 13 and official entry for Oscars? Ridiculous!

But these are filmfare awards hardly anyone even pays attention to

An I enjoyed GB hell of a lot more than Black. Nothing I enjoy less than watching movies with handicapped protagonists contemplating meaning of life (shit is so boring) ❤️

😆

Oh yeah. Black was another one. Swept all the awards but SO OTT! Rani and AB did their best but blech!

Still the backlash was nothing like GB

It's pretty prestigious..British legends such as Glenda Jackson and Billy Barrat have been nominated alongside. It's international competition

GB didnt deserve all the awards that it got but still zoya is very Talented.

Especially the best actress awards for alia's 15 min roles was a joke. Even ranveer didnt deserve the best actor awards because hrithik and shahid were much better than him.

HR and Shahid were excellent and I dont know who else was nominated in Best Actress but Alia quite clearly should have been in the supporting category. She was pretty good though, and yes the awards did overstate GB's case but it is by no means a bad or plagiarised film. Not by a long shot.

As for Oscar entries- we've also had mediocre or super commercial films like Barfi, Rang De Basanti and even Eklavya (!!!) go in as official submissions. Big deal. We need to make better films as a whole yes, but GB was not our worst. Not even close.
