Pretty privilege exists for sure. People like Deepika and Aish had smooth entries into BW and never even had to audition and didn't have any talent either. They didn't go to acting school or do plays and didn't start off in television or anything.

Nepo kids are born with connections while others are born with beauty. Both have nothing to do with talent.

Watch the director's commentary on the Om Shanti Om dvd. Farah talks for 3 hours straight and she outright talks about what a bad actress Deepika is and how it's so hard to get her to give the right reactions - like if the character is supposed to look scared, they have to scare Deepika for real to get her to give the right expression.

Aish is a trained dancer, and a good one too. Yes, her beauty is ravishing. Which obviously gave her leverage but she wasn't a terrible actress. She also did work her way through, she won Miss World before she entered bollywood and looks aren't the only criteria of winning the title. She was modeling before she entered the pageant and had not entered bollywood before she had already made a name for herself.

Same goes for PC and Sushmita Sen.. in PC's words, they had already won the world. Watch their old interviews, and they are all class apart from the likes of Kapoor clan, the Kaifs and most actresses today.

One may argue about DP, but I never found anything extra ordinary in her looks.

There is no comparison in any way between these nepo kids in terms of anything at all. What are we even comparing them against😆

Acting, dance, charisma, personality??

None of the Miss World criteria has anything to do with acting talent. Did they audition? No. Did they go to acting school? No. Did they do plays? No. Did they start off acting in television? No.

They had nothing except looks and those looks got them into all the doors in BW. Everyone works hard and improves themselves with time - Ash and Deepika did and so do nepo kids - so that's irrelevant.

They made a name before becoming an actress but that name had nothing to do with acting. Even nepo kids have a name. The audience are interested in seeing both which is why they land movies.

If we're going to cry about real talent being ignored, the same applies to the Miss World types. Now Manushi Chillar is getting an easy entry which has nothing to do with acting talent. She is going to get the kind of launch nepo kids gets or even better in a YRF movie.

Being well trained in Indian classical dance since childhood is better than acting schools. Who goes to them, anyways? TV to movies wasn't exactly a route back them it was modeling. Which they had done for years.

I can't confirm on the audition part. But I refuse to believe that "looks are all you need to get into a movie". There is no dearth of beautiful women in the industry.

Even DP, if I'm not wrong has been modeling since she was 14?

Just like nepotism, looks can only take you so far.

All upper middle class girls take dance lessons as an extracurricular activity in their teen years. Half the girls I know are all trained in classical dance. It requires 2 hours a week and it's also just a fun activity. And again, how does that matter to BW? Who is doing classical dancing there anyway? Katrina's dance numbers are more popular.

Who goes to acting school? People that want to be actors maybe and not just glam models? Even back in the day, people like Jaya Bachchan, Naseer, and Shabana Azmi went to acting school.

If we're going to cry about real talent being ignored, then nepo kids aren't the only offenders who got easy entries without any real background. These Miss World types are no different. One had the advantage of looks and one had the advantage of connections. But neither one can survive just on that. They have been accepted by the public. There's no point in crying about the glam dolls the same way there is no point in crying about someone like Alia Bhatt.

DP's career would have been over if she did not make a u-turn from cocktail. I became her fan because I liked her as an actress not because of her looks. Looks came later for me.

And I certainly don't care about superficial stuff like dancing skill. We are not living in the 18th century. No one needs to know dancing to become an actress.

^^ Well, I disagree.

As someone who has trained classically. its not a "hobby" for professionals. To get that degree of perfection is no ordinary skill or talent. Atleast, I can judge that.

Yes, but as someone who loves classical dance.. its a delight to watch Vyjanthimala, Madhuri, Aish on screen. I'd watch a movie just for that.

It depends on the role, and while its not a compulsory skill. Its an added advantage. I personally love such genres so..

I hope people understand ...and I totally blame Kangana for this . Nepotism is not the problem here. Our parents sending us to school over sending some brilliant underpriviliged kid instead of us is also nepotism.

Its the systematic bullying , unabashed and unfair lobbying , defaming outsiders using clout among many things we know of and dont know .

Did you see Ranbir's acting and dialogue delivery in sawariya and bachana e haseeno ? it was so flat ... its because of his so called looks(take away his fair skin ...indians willnever give him second look) he was declared next superstar without a single release.

I dont see Zoya talking about Ranbir or Alia so dismissively. These people recently threw us a challege " to find better actors then Alia and Ranbir" . Even Daniel day and robin williams level actors are not this pompous.

Sonam is so beautiful...but you cannot stand her on screen even for 5 mins...she has beauty, height, kapoor tag ...what she does not have that a BW heroine shud i.e "screen presence" . Something that Katrina and Deepika have. Many beautiful ppl do not have it...the only thing that matters...even more than good looks.

Kjo has lobbied away many roles for Alia where other actresses were in final talks ... by his usual Dharma and A lister- elite circle, media promotions pitch. NO , Alia is not a brilliant actress. She did try a 'Deepika' in Kalank and it was pukeworthy.

Its the charater artists who breathe life into the films. They do the job of setting the stage and taking audience slowly into the world of the film...most of the times.
