It is a dense heavy subject, while it is a powerful story on a subject that needs to be brought to the forefront, it is NOT a happy story, it has a positive message but not a happy triumphant ending. These kind of films... have to rely on people having a very open mind and a moral responsibility individuals take on to go watch it/support it. Not everyone is willing to do so, some will be open and honest and say they cannot go sit thru it, others are going to use the Deepika went to stand with University students excuse blah, blah, blah. Bottom line the horrifying statistics are real, the attacks do happen and you even read about people carrying acid for "self protection" and no one is saying wait a second what the heck, this has got to stop. This is barbaric and backwards, maybe if we ignore it, then it will not touch us. This movie brings people face to face with reality, with fears and worries everyone lives with and everyone knows that even if the victim pulls thru and decides to face the world after the attack, no matter how well she does, she is still the victim of a horrific disfiguring violent act, that changes her life for ever where there is no going back and has no rhyme or reason, other than to show one of the lowest things a human can do to another, violence just for the sake of harming. There is no giggly feel good feeling when walking out after watching these films. Audiences know they go see it to be witnesses of a barbaric act perpetrated on a human being.
