Is Ayushman going to eventually overtake Ranbir/Ranveer?

The trust Ayushman has built up with the audience is tremendous. Also, he's a complete outsider, who has made it on his own. People respect that about him.

The way he is going, I think it's possible that he will eventually overtake both Ranbir and Ranveer in the stardom + acting aspects. I think his gentle demeanour hides a steely determination and he's extremely competitive.

From no-one talking about him in 2017 to giving 100 crore blockbusters, he's come a long way. It's a slow and steady rise, but his lineup of films looks great in 2020 as well.

He has the goodwill of the audience already. People go to the theatre to watch his movies, trusting his script choices. A movie like Bala managing to strike a chord with the audience is a big thing. It was the novelty factor, Ayush being bald and not looking like a typical "hero".

Do you guys agree?

I like Ayushmann but what I absolutely hate is over hype. He has a long way to go before coming in the league of Varun and 🐅, forget Ranbir and Ranveer.

If you are talking about stardom, he has already overtaken Varun. No-one is talking about Varun nowadays. He has given back-to-back flops. Tiger is known mainly due to being an action star, and nothing else. He is so limited in all other genres.

Ayush's script sense is his USP. He picks amazing scripts, always with something different. People love that about him.

You have to admit, Ayush has a lot more going for him in 2020 than any of these actors. He has Gulabo Sitabo and Shubh Mnagal Zyada Saavdhan, both again with promising, hatke concepts.

I agree, his rise is slower than Ranbir/Ranveer, but eventually I feel he will not only catch up, but overtake them.

I guess you meant no one is talking about Varun on internet. In that case, no one talks about Ajay Devgn either. And going by that logic, Ayushmann is a bigger star than Ajay too. There is a world outside internet. And in outside world, Varun is much bigger star than Ayushmann despite a couple of Flops. Geez, I can't believe I'm defending Varun after getting into ugly fights with his fans so many times.

As for 🐅, as long as he's bringing the numbers even by doing movies in the same genre, it shouldn't matter.

No one knows what will happen in future. So I'll not comment on that. But Ayushmann is not a crowdpuller, atleast not in the league of RK, RS, Varun and 🐅.

I agree with a lot of what you said except for the bold part. His movies or at least his characters in all these movies seem very similar and that can get tiring and boring after a while.

He’s in a really good place now and will definitely climb up. But how high and for how long is the question. If he doesn’t experiment with genres and characters he won’t have longevity IMO. And like you said, he’s an outsider so his flops won’t be tolerated as well either. The industry will forget about him and move on.

A lot of people are saying what you are saying. I also feel the same way about Ayushman's choice of films. He's stellar at the selection of his scripts. But his attempt to break the formula has started to become some sort of formula itself.

Ayushman is great but he’s not a star. He delivers entertainment but nobody is going crazy over him nor does he have any diehard fans.

he’s popular, decent actor, chooses good movies - but he’s not a star.

Ranbir thoda sa bhi kuch kare everyone makes it a big deal as if he’s extraordinary. But because he’s a star uski ek blink bhi sabko wah wah lagti hai. I’ve actually read comments where people said the way he blinks on screen is so natural....just imagine - iske blinks ko itni importance mil rahi hai ... Ayushman toh kuch bhi nahi hai phir

No, as Looney said, Ayushmann has done nothing yet, to be considered bigger star than Varun or Tiger, let alone Ranbir or Ranveer.

Stardom involves pulling people based on your brand if I'm not mistaken. Atushman might get there is a few years, but not yet. Andhadhun and Article 15 were his attempts to branch out. Let's see what he does in 2021/2022.

As for Ranbir, Ranveer. Varun... they risk flaming out if they don't pick decent scripts. All 3 do variations of the same character and are somehow lauded as great artists. Until they prove otherwise, they're one note performers.
