Marjaawaan Has Decent Start - Bala Holds Well
Friday 15 November 2019 15.00 IST Box Office India Trade Network
Marjaawaan has had a decent start of around 20-25% as it opened well in mass centres. The bigger multiplexes are not too good but that is expected and even the release there is not so big with just one screen in most of the multiplexes.
The film has opened to good collections in Nizam, CP Berar, Maharashtra and Gujarat and there will be support from UP and East also. Romeo Akbar Walter was a film in a similar zone as far as it was also outperforming in the Nizam / Maharashtra area and this film is looking at a better start compared to that film. Obviously the hope will be that the film also sustains better than that film. The opening is also far better than recent Siddharth Malhotra films.
Motichoor Chaknachoor opened very poorly and that is pretty much expected as the film does not have anything going for it. The film will struggle to put up even a respectable number up on day one. The Hollywood releases Ford V Ferrari and Charlies Angels have opened far better. The former is not even dubbed in Hindi but has more than double the collections of Motichoor Chaknachoor.
Bala has had a good hold on day eight and is a HIT film but it has no chance to reach the numbers of Chhichhore which is the biggest film of the year in this zone. The Dream Girl numbers will also not be done but still Bala will finish with a good number and should be a 100 crore nett plus film.

Shogun your opening day prediction going by this ?
Just saw the movie ..it is pretty much on the expected lines .The story takes you back to the 90s also the treatment is totally dated .The story is so predictable that you see everything coming from a distance .The only part where the film works is romantic portion between Sid-Tara .The love story is deftly executed and the intermission is hair raising .You genuinely feel bad for these two lovers .Sid gives a decent performance ditto for Tara who is so much better here than her debut film .She remains etched in ur memory much after the show is over .Ritesh is good though though noting exceptional ..This film would have been so much better had it been a complete love story ..It is way to over the top with unwanted masala and outdated tacky plot...

Hmm since RAW was around 6, I am assuming it would be around 8-9 crore opening day. That would be so much better than what Sid has been doing for the past 4-5 films lol.
Based off the audience reaction and twitter everyone's loving it, so far seems like a good WOM
Critics are hating it though.. Let's see what fate has in store for my boy Sid
I think it will do decent business

8-9 would be a fantastic opening

Seems like didn’t get the evening late push at the multiplexes. Anyways for Sid, this is still damn good given recent track record. Taran will definitely quote t-series 8ish crore watch lol.
Marjaawaan Does Well - Bala Sustains Well
Saturday 16 November 2019 03.00 IST Box Office India Trade Network
Marjaawaan did well on day one as it collected around 6.50-7 crore nett as per early estimates. The film scored well in Maharashtra, Gujarat, CP Berar, Nizam, UP and Bihar though collections in the metros were low. The bigger multiplex chains have not been able to collect but smaller multiplexes and single screens have done well especially in mass circuits.
Its a good number for this film though big growth will be hard as a huge ratio of collections are coming from mass centres which dont grow on Saturday. Still the film could be strong on Sunday when these places tend to do well. The film has fetched 15 crore minimum guarantee across India and even with a flat weekend there will be a 10 crore share in the first three days only which means the distributor is certain to be in the black. The big metros multiplexes are low and there is huge potential for these to grow on Saturday but potential does not mean they will grow as the content does seem more for outside metros.
Bala has held well on its second Friday with collections of 3.75 crore nett. The drop is around 20-25% from Thursday and it is looking a good second weekend. The collections of the film so far are around 73 crore nett and the film should cross the 100 crore nett mark.
