They should’ve shown him as someone who got help, recovered and moved on.

Him and Preety ending up together was kinda boring to be honest

Yeah it was the most 90s way of ending the movie. But I think in the premise of the movie, Kabir's anger management issues are never really issues. That's just shown to be his nature and all that self destructive phase is just a phase. So, he never needs help but just Preeti cuz anything else would just have fu*ked his life up. I don't know what to think about it, but recently I've been exposed to the idea that maybe therapy isn't for everyone. Sometimes people need to deal with their issues in their own way to become the people they are supposed to become and stuff like therapy just makes them lose that stuff.

But he didn't go after her out of the blue one day. He didn't try to contact her, saw her in a park by chance and saw that she was unhappy. At least those are the reasons given. And in the end, you have to take the reasons that the maker is giving you into account right? So, that's why he went after her. He thought she's sad and they are meant to be together and he wouldn't mind to go against society and its rules of marriage and stuff to get back with her.

Exactly! I thought for Kabir and Preeti, that ending was perfect. It was about owning the other person, it was about never letting go, never giving up. And for those characters, it would have been fake if they had moved on. Both Kabir and Preeti are shown to be extremely intense. You can't just change that for the ending. Thanks for giving the TWMR example. That's perfect. It's about what is natural and logical for those two characters and not in the ideal world.

Yeh I mean even the concept of ideal world depends person to person. I’ve seen couples who are both super intense and have extreme emotions (extreme love , extreme hatred)....practically speaking it seems toxic to be in such a relationship yes...but if both of them are like that and they want their relationship to be extreme, and that’s their idea of love....is it really on our part to question?

It’s feminism in a twisted way if u think abt it...feminism is abt females excercising choice and not being judged for it....girl chooses to be in a relationship with a toxic man....at some point third person draws a line and has to stay out of it if the couple is willingly in it together ...

Another example I think of is Rani and Abhishek from Yuva...the dude is clearly messed up and they show ranis parents constantly advising her to not go back to him.... but she does every single time ....and out of choice...she wants that relationship so what else can anybody else do? They can’t force her out of it because that’s going against her choice which isn’t right either

That’s why people are terrified to get involved in a couples fights ....parents, family, friends ...

It’s a complex situation to be in and around....all we can do is decide how we want our relationship to be that’s all...we can’t decide for others and it’s best not to get involved as brutal as that sounds for the couples loved ones

As adults people should be expected to deal with the consequences of their choices...we can help them but we can’t tell ppl what to do

Had it been a different woman who’s idea of love was more around respect, letting each other be, the ending wouldn’t have made sense

It’s like Maddy and Kanganas happy ending in twmr....she’s toxic, dominating scheming controlling and just plain horrible some ways.......but if he had the choice of going with a better woman AND still chose her, then I guess he deserves her...

Love means diff things to diff ppl...as long as the couple share the same views abt love, they can stay together all they want and no one can question them really

No such women and girls need to be reformed. Even boys too who want to be submissive like Madhavan.

They had same concept of love so I think they should be happy, crazy love does exist... I've seen examples of people who didn't marry because the one for them (according to them) refused them, nothing seems really unreal to me, world is unpredictable 🙄

I didn't like the execution though, his transformation of alcoholic to non alcoholic should have been shown more in the movie, that isn't easy... Alcohol shuts everything. He's family's viewpoint should have been put in more (esp dad)

Really?!?!!

I've done everything I could you avoid threads and articles for this movie because I didn't want spoilers and here the title gives away the end.

That's really unfortunate.

Thanks a lot!!!

Sorry if this topic has been done to death here but I just can't find a thread where the discussion has been streamlined around the facts related to this character. Most of the comments are about people either projecting their fears about what the movie could encourage in society or bashing without even watching the movie. So, I would like to know, from those who HAVE watched it, because I know it sounds bad to those who haven't watched it but you really should watch it first and then form your opinion on it, did you think Kabir Singh was a misogynist? I agree that he was a very angry and aggressive person. That much is more than clear. Also, very impulsive and reckless. But a misogynist?

Can you point out which exactly are those places in the movie where you thought a character like him does not deserve a happy ending and people should be warned to not be like Kabir Singh in real life?

Personally, I thought that character was a weird character, unconventional and ofcourse not someone to be idolised for his violent ways, but also not someone I would call a bad person. I was very uncomfortable with him slapping Preeti. It was wrong completely for him to have pulled out a knife to force the girl to have sex with him, which she didn't. Other than those two instances, I thought most of what he did was well within the scope of the movie's premise. So, please tell me what you think and why?

When did he pulled out knife to have sex ??

Bhardwaj Rangan had an ask BR session on this movie and he had some thoughtful answers, I thought.
