I honestly like the first world culture in this aspect. When things are lovey dovey and people romancing openly, they dont bother. But if they suspect domestic violence from neighbourhood, they inform the authority on it even if it means from anonymous id.

I just wish my country could do this. Sadly if there are affairs or love stories, couple’s a topic of great gossip. But if domestic violence, everyone’s like shushhh.

Exactly. The happy ending is the problem.

Go watch Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya where the female character was like Kabir SIngh. I loved that film and Urmila was fantastic as the angry mad woman. But the movie never told me that it was ok to harass a man into love! I never cheered when she was being obsessive and obnoxious. The ending was perfect with showing her as mentally unstable. I even felt bad for her. The movie was a hit and Urmila was praised. But her behavior in the movie was never OK. When I see the trailer of Kabir Singh, I see a mentally unstable man in need of anger management therapy. I am disturbed to know the movie has a happy ending. And even more bothered to see people calling this kind of harassing behavior as intense love! Very disturbing.

I have no idea why girls stay with abusive bf, but I have seen it happen. Movies which glorifies misogyny normalizes the abusive relations.

So, there's this girl who was living in with a guy who beat her. Our society gossip auntie knew about it, but didn't complain. One days things escalated a bit too much and only then the girl left.

As a request, if you see a man misbehaving with his wife or gf, please raise your voice. Don't ignore 🙏

What makes you think they would want the help though? I have dealt with such girls a lot, and in the end you just waste your time, make yourself in stress, life in mess and so on as they will do what they want. And in one case, one girl just broke up with friends who were almost decade long friends when they intervened & tried to help her who was in abusive relationship. It’s not so easy that you just tell them that it’s an abusive relationship and they will just agree and be fine or break up with their boyfriend/husband. I hate to do that anymore as it’s SO exhausting, stressful and waste of time. I am not saying all such cases turn out that way, but most do.

They are blind in love and most of the times have low have self esteem. They think a guy will fix their problems rather than them fixing themselves first. One can’t help someone if that person doesn’t want it. In the end, one has to want the help and help themselves first then only others can do anything.

Even if someone tells that the makers have promoted Kabir Singh as a hero by treating his girl like this, I would not agree with them coz the story has clearly shown how much the guy has lost everything in his life due to his compulsive behavior that he ended up choosing a self-destructive path as an addicted person. He had lost his grandma, his girlfriend ended up marrying somewhere else and for months Kabir allowed himself to get suffered. Then he underwent treatments and his behavior surely got developed by time after he recovered from the addiction. He repented enough to get back what he had in his life.

The story and its characters surely have different dimensions and the story is deep, one just needs to understand what message it actually wanted to deliver the audience.

Even Shahid Kapoor told in a promotional interview, "Don't be a Kabir Singh." That's what enough to understand what the movie is all about.

(Spoilers alert)

completely agree with ur take on Kabir, he is a pathetic character n so is Preeti who couldn't stand for herself, but loved her in a scene where she fled to kabir and did what she really wanted!

Honestly i think Kabir loved her so much but he was too much domineering, it was his character, he was like this with everyone infact with Preeti he toned it down a bit, so how come he is a misogynistic, infact he is a every-ogynistic lol i butchered vocabulary here😆, pardon me. Kabir singh is a story of a flawed man, not everyone is hero, and he is certainly not, he had his own problems n who hasn't in real life? I think this movie is not in any way glorifying treating your girl in a certain bad way, even though i believe it did teach to all the boys how to carry your girl's 'saman' all the time!😆 i found it too sweet whenever Kabir took off bag from Preeti's shoulder!

I just can't tolerate people's hypocrisy, when a girl slaps boy, its ok, but when a boy slaps a girl, the whole world's sentiments r hurt and all feminists stands with her! I'm not in any way supporting abuse here, my question is why don't people react when men r wronged, i just can't stand this discrimination (read against men here)! I'm a girl by the way lol!😆 (really sorry for my rant)

I confused on whether he was actually misogynistic or if he was just an overall ass....he treats his friends and family ( male and female) with secular dominance / disdain....like how he makes fun of his friend shivas lack of ambition...

Honestly I didn’t see it as a male female thing...he was as dominating ass in general with a god complex who assumed he was always right....

I found it amusing to watch someone like that

so what if Kabir Singh is misogynistic, so what if Khilji is barbaric, so what if Sanju is a drug addict & has underworld connections, so what if Raj of Raja ki ayegi baraat is a rapist, so what if Kundan is stalker, so what if Vijay of Anjaam is a psycho, so what if who plays what...........usse paise chahiye, aur humein entertainment.

entertainment ke liye kuch bhi chalega.

You seem like a mature and sensible girl. Happy to see such thoughts from a fellow girl.
