It's really difficult to say how the story will be and who has a strong character or not. The only actor I am not happy with is jhanvi and even more that she will maybe opposite ranveer. And if Manish malhotra is part of the costume department.

Ranveer knows exactly what part he is choosing and it would be stupid to choose aurangzeb after Khilji cause it would be repetitive and don't think aurengzeb will be showcased like SLB did it with Khilji.
Overall the script has to be good that he really said yes to do again a period movie in which he plays a prince almost similar to something like bajirao/ratan.

There are many characters and some are known more than the rest but here it depends really on the script and where the focus will be and the most interesting part is the ending.

@bold Absolutely agree! These people will be the downfall of the movie! 🤢 I hope Janhvi just has an extended cameo like the reports are saying. I can't handle anything more than that and I won't be able to tolerate her even more if she's paired with Ranveer 🤢

Everyone knows Aurangzeb won't be showcased like Khilji in Padmaavat because in this film there are 2 protagonists not one. However, Aurangzeb will just be a black character like Khilji with no grey shades.

Aurangzeb would've been the more interesting choice if Ranveer hadn't done Khilji just last year but what's done is done. I know Vicky will definitely do a great job so will Ranveer because he's done similar roles before. It should be pretty easy for him.

Kjo is a shrewd businessman more than anything. Takht may be a vanity project for him to present his dear ones like Aia, Janhvi, Kareena in a period setting but at the end of the day he maybe a bad director/story teller but he is a good businessman and a marketing genius. His sharp businessman acumen will propel him to utiliize Ranveer the best way possible and that is to make him the crux the backbone of his narrative. Aurengzab on paper and in history maybe the more well known more stronger role but Dara will be the one who will walk out with more sympathy from the audience mark my word. In Padmaavat no one could connect with good king Ratan or sympatize with him because of his bland Rajput usool jaap and his one toneness. But Dara is more flamboyant and more progressive than Ratan so there is huge scope to make the role attractive and overshadow Aurengzab. I don't have any faith in Karan as a direcotr but as a businessman/trade guy he know the pulse of the audience and he very well know how to package his products to sell it to the audience. And Takht will be packaged in a way that it will be taken in by the audience despite it being mediocre. Ranveer in a period movie sell. He proven that. So kjo will definitely use that to sell his movie.

According to him Ranveer was the first person he narrated the script to. The reason for getting Ranveer onboard is to lend some credibility to his project because as Ranveer had already worked in two period movies there is a perception among audience that period movies is his forte and he will never go wrong in picking a period movie. Also Ranveer at this point of career will never choose to do a period movie so soon after Padmaavat if he did not get the more meatier role.

Yes, this is a movie and will work according to the script but even in that script both Aurangzeb and Dara are the main characters NOT just one of them. Karan has said this multiple times that the movie is about 2 pivotal characters who are siblings.

If the rumours about Karan offering the role of Aurangzeb to Ranbir is true, would Karan really be stupid enough to give a secondary role to an actor of Ranbir's stature, who's also Ranveer's biggest rival?

Yes, people will sympathize with Dara and hate Aurangzeb but that's the whole point of the story. Dara is the hero and Aurangzeb is the villain. It doesn't mean that Dara will overshadow Aurangzeb.

We'll only know who's got the bigger role after watching the movie (IF there is a bigger role) but everyone (even here on IF) are wondering why Ranveer chose to play a "weaker" role because that's what people will generally think.

Additionally, Hirabai has been cast just because of Aurangzeb. According to recent reports, Alia has the most prominent role among the females after Kareena and she's playing Vicky's wife.

How can it be then that Ranveer has the meatier role? I think it's exactly like Karan said that the movie is about 2 pivotal characters not one.

Ranveer has also said previously on Koffee With Karan that he's totally open to doing a 2 hero film so this makes a lot of sense. He's also said recently that he cares more about the story than anything else.

This reminds of bajrao mastani. Mastani was much more famous as a character than kashibai but when the movie came everyone fell for kashibai.The movie isnt abt which character is more famous. Its abt who makes it more famous. Right now dara is the underdog. So let him play his part and then we will understand who played it better.

Yes, exactly but that was only the mature audience like us who loved Kashi along with the critics.

I know a lot of my friends who were gaga over the BM romance and Mastani 😆😆 even people here on IF 😆

So yeah generally speaking, Dara cannot overshadow Aurangzeb. I would love it if Dara is presented like Kashi in Bajirao Mastani but the chances are slim. He'll most likely be the righteous hero who's the perfect son, perfect brother, perfect husband etc. which is quite boring to watch.

Again, I would love to be surprised but yeah let's just wait and watch. Also, the point I made was that Dara's role is not more important than Aurangzeb's. Karan has said it multiple times that they are both the 2 main characters.

Just because Ranveer is playing Dara doesn't mean that everyone else will be on the sidelines. Even Kareena as Jahanara will have an impact because Jahanara is a very strong character.
