Could it be that she has a dual citizenship?

There is no dual citizenship but OCI ( overseas citizens of India ) where one can live and work and do everything apart from voting in India . OCI holders have another indian passport type looking blue booklet apart from having different country's passport .

But that's better India at least gives OCI and NRI status to India's descendants till certain generations. There are other countries who do not give such liberties. Voting is important, but for those who does not give importance to politics does not matter to them. Besides voting does nothing to change indivual's life.

Most likely OCI card. An OCI card grants you lifelong multiple entries to India. OCI holders can stay in India for any length of time without registering.

Yup. Its kinda India's only answer to a dual citizenship.

It seems like in any other country like a permanent residence but rather than applying for it you got it due to descendants background. However, I think it is really good. It also helps so many people who had been living overseas to come back to India itself.

I am curious what is wrong the nationalism with Asian's countries that they do not recognize dual citizenship?

A lot of western countries allowed their citizen to be another nation-state citizen as long as they did not take official status or serve in the military.

Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI)

Although dual citizenship is not allowed by India, India offers the opportunity for persons of Indian origin to apply for the Overseas Citizenship of India ("OCI"), which is not a full-fledged citizenship, but which does provide a lifetime Indian visa for its holders.

So Alia was born in India and her father is an Indian citizen

She grew up here, went to school here, works here, still she chose to have British citizenship instead of Indian...
