I believe yes, I mean none of Ranveer's character have struck a chord with me and I have watched all films of both of them including Kill Dil😆

IMHO I found Varun better in -ve shades in Badlapur over RS' mollified Khilji version, better in romantic vulnerability stuff, definitely better while playing subtle character/emotions like in October

and yes have watched Lootera loved it but I felt ki subtlity ke chakkar mein Ranveer went infrasonic to the point of being inaudible😆while Sonakshi gave performance of a lifetime to only resume back to caricaturish flower pot roles🥱

Khair the only thing is like I have said earlier also that Varun hasnt done/got those many author backed roles that's why his potential is undermined I feel.

Ranveer is better for sure. He's proven himself in a variety of different roles. His Varun of Lootera is one my favourites. He's taken risks and explored different genres and different shades even polar opposites in successive films. He's a chameleon and when he comes on screen I only see the character, never Ranveer himself.

I remember not being impressed with Varun till he did Baldlapur. I loved him there. October too. He's improving with every film now. I loved him in Sui Dhaga too, it's pretty underrated but he did great in it. He still needs to explore more variety.

Ranveer has tendency of going OTT and while Varun can control his OTT, does it when required.

I have noticed one thing about both of them is Ranveer has dead pan eyes and can not emote through his eyes.

Very few BW actors has the ability to act through their eyes, Varun is one of them and since he is relatively still new has time to broaden his scope & improve more.

Ranveer was amazing in Lootera, pretty early on. If you remove his OTP offscreen persona, he's a chamaleon in each of his roles. I don't think anyone else can pull off a Khilji, Gully Boy, and Simmba in one year - all totally different characters. Bajirao was also very subdued.

How is street dancer a masala movie, just because it will have song and dance it is masala movie. Great logic!!

Judwaa 2 came two years back and his next masala movie will be with his father which will come next year. So if he is doing one masala movie in 3 years, you are going to conclude that he is only interested in doing that type of movie.

Also I have seen this lot of times here, when their own favourite does a masala movie then "superstar" "masses ka hero" "Blockbuster" is used, on the other hand same people call out other actors if they do the same movie.

I wouldnt really picture Varun as Khilji. But he surprised us in badlapur, so who knows.

Filaal, given the present movies , I'd say RS. But I'd like to see Varun take up something Khilji ish and pull it off.

But off screen, I really like Varun by leaps.

I watched only a few of Varuns movies (not October). He is a good actor. But Ranveer is above him at the moment. Khilji is something else. Varun nor IF ka laadla RK could have carried it off. Its a different story that RK cant do either khilji or simmba or even BBB 😛
