Only infertile, Childless legally-wedded Indian couple(5 years after the marriage) can avail surrogacy with close relative only.

following categories are not allowed to avail surrogacy

Single parents
Indian couple having childr(ren)
Foreign couple
Homosexual- gay couple and lesbian couple
Living- in relation who do not want to get married

Hmm.. thanks.. I did think there would be .. some reasons behind it.

So childless legally wedded couples can still have surogate babies.. But 5 years after marriage?
That's to make sure they are not getting married just to get ..benefits?

.. thanks for all the info.

Oh God, that is so horrifying, Ive watched another CP episode of a case where they captured beggars or unemployed people to harvest their organs and then dispose their bodies

It actually is true. Last year there was a horrific incident that came light in Tamilnadu which was later silenced..it dealt with a hospice where tonnes of bones and skeletons were unearthed and those were said to be of abandoned old people, beggars and orphans whose organs were harvested n the bodies dumped of in the hospice premises. The probe was stopped suddenly and many questioning voices were silenced

Yup and also 5 yrs is a good enough time to try fertility treatments and see if they work. Only when it is medically declared that the woman cannot carry the pregnancy to full-term is when the surrogacy would be allowed.

Thanks.😊
Replying to both your posts: Horrible stuff about what you described happened in that institution. I always thought organ collection is some urban myth... seems not so..

And with the 5 years rule - also I see they ask for the couple to find surrogate within relatives... IS that to stop poor people taking surrogacy as a 'job' type?

But wouldn't taking a CLOSE relative as surrogate increase the risk of .. ilnesses/malformations? (thinking on discussions re: relatives and the predominance of problems in children born when parents are close relatives)
-I'm referring to this-

Yes the objective of the relative rule is to discourage people using it as a "job".

Zygote is from the parents usually which is later introduced to the surrogate so don't think health issues would be a concern.

I wonder whether she had become pregnant naturally like any other woman and then named it surrogacy just to save her reputation or to hide whoever the father is! 🤔

Don't like the idea of gay couples or single parents not being able to do it though. They face strict rules regarding adoption too no?
I understand the intention of the law but it is unfair to some extent. Sad how due to trash people misusing surrogacy people who really want their child can't do it.

I know it's personal choice but it's like becoming some treand in BW. Disappointing kind of.

Can't the same be said for people who get married and have kids? Why go through 9 months of pregnancy and all that, why not simply adopt?

😕

People have kids in a "normal" way because they like to continue their genes. So no harm done if single parents want the same. You can't crucify them just because they don't want a partner.
