OK... so per shogun's informative post (thanks!), I think it is trending towards a "semi-hit" .. much better outcome than of her last three releases flop, disaster, flop.😳Plus this "semi-hit" created female led opening weekend/single day record and an extremely well received lead performance... so clearly, not all is lost.😆
100 -115 cr it wil be semi hit
How much it has to make for a semi hit ?
As long as floppy doesn't happen I will celebrate 😃

- Semi-Hit: Film which just recovers the distribution cost.
Anything >65CR lifetime. With Tuesday collection it is right now ~52 CR

Sorry I realized I made an error with the bullet points.Full Disclosure, this is usually the rule of thumb BOI claim they follow but I have seen them do weird shit many times. So can't vouch for verdicts as long they aren't too farfetched. They are very flawed but still significantly are better than what's out there.

Golmaal hai bhai sab golmaal hai. 😆 In real life, audience doesn't care... either they connect or don't with a movie. Only in IF, every film has to pass the BO fire. 😉Bottomline: Many want to see a "flop" tag for this movie, come what may. 😳
Hiya, let's see if I can bring some clarity. I remember the old format of BoxOfficeIndia described the theatrical verdict situation like this ---
- All-Time BlockBuster: Film which more than triples the distributor's investment by an additional 50% or it becomes the highest grosser in at least four circuits, or it breaks the record of the current highest grosser.
- Blockbuster: Film which triples the distributor's investment.
- Super-Hit: Film which more than doubles the distributor's investment and earns more profit comparatively.
- Hit: Film which doubles the distributors' investment.
- Semi-Hit: Film retrieved the distribution investment and more than 10-20% of the distribution investment.
- Average: Film which just recovers the distribution cost.
- Below-Average: Film which does not even retrieve the distributors' investment and loses less than 20% of it.
- Flop: Film which does not even retrieve the distributors' investment and loses less than 50% but more than 20% of it.
- Disaster: Film which does not even recover the distributors' investment and loses more than 50% of it.
Now Padmavati, if I recall correctly for the domestic theatrical rights, was sold by Viacom for 110ish crores before it was tossed for a spin with all the bans and whatnot. If we follow BOI's rule of thumb then it makes sense Padmavati's theatrical earnings more than doubled/ tripled its all India distribution cost. Super hit/ BB all semantics really at the end of the day.
