Shah Rukh Khan Talks About Overcoming Box Office Failure Of Zero. This Is What He Said
SRK's latest release Zero carried huge expectations at Box Office but sadly it also tanked disappointing the fans badly.
In a recent interview, SRK explained how he overcomes the failure and what's his response to the back to back failure he has received. The superstar said that as an artist you can't play it safe every time because it's boring.
He gave an example of Swades and said it was a Flop at the time of release but people like and appreciate it more now. He asked if the film was ahead of its time? He said that Chak De India did well but just because of the same he can't keep on making similar films because it will mean he's playing it safe. He gave an example of DDLJ and Devdas too and said that the former film was flopped by the name but it's running till date, the latter was not liked at the film festivals but was loved by the audience.
Khan's last few films, Raees, Jab Harry Met Sejal and Fan, have not fared well at the box office, with the Imtiaz Ali directorial raking in a disappointing Rs 64.33 in the domestic market, as per Movie Box Office Collection. Khan, in an interview with Hindustan Times, reflected on the possibility of the failure of Zero at the box office and his consequent fate in the film business.
He told the publication, "God forbid, if this film doesn't work, what will happen? Maybe, I won't get work for six months or 10 months, but if I believe that my craft and art is good, I will continue to get work. Then, I will probably make a comeback which I have been doing for the last 15 years, or maybe, the comeback won't happen."
Directed by Aanand L Rai, Zero features Shah Rukh as a vertically challenged man named Baua Singh, Katrina Kaif as an actress battling alcoholism, and Anushka Sharma as a wheelchair-bound scientist. It is scheduled to release on 21 December.
