and you wrote yourself to me that i was butting in just because i commented on this thread and that i shud hav known it was a reply to astha

i am not trying to judge you, i am just saying its not fair to assume those who didn't like the performance are just unnecessarily hating on rk, yes there are some who will be haters but not everyone is

I am pretty sure i wrote maybe they dislike the actor or they did not watch it. Maybe. Not must be. You are the one saying must be.

True not everyone is a hater...and i have already apologized to astha for calling her one when she is not.
And i also said it was fine you butted in. You replied on the basis of the first comment. I get it. But since you seemed to judge me on yhe basis of partial information...i was defendinv myself upon why i said what i did.

But judging an entire performance based on 2 minute trailer is not right.

Trust me i know what a stan is. And a hater. And yes...wanted to say that your post seemed like you probably are not a hater at all. Then i got embroiled with some other member who is very fast at typing.I was too quick to judge you on that. Maybe its a hangup of twitter fan wars. Sorry about that.

I think if I am saying that I'm judging the performance based on trailer then I'm being honest about it and there's no question of fairness. And whether he didn't act well in the comic scenes only and killed it in the serious ones, it will not be a brilliant performance for me at least. So, there's that.

My point mainly was that I don't have to be a hater to just say that I didn't like his performance. Just based on one comment, you can't judge someone. At least when it comes to their work, I give my actual opinion for even actors I don't like that much. Thanks for being sweet. But I don't think one needs to show that one is neutral in their comments here to not be called a hater. Sometimes there are phases where you liek an actor and later don't and again do after that. Nobody needs to be called a hater or a stan for that. Sorry about being preachy but it's just what I think and what irked me.

Found an old post I had written on Ranbir the actor, and it's still pretty much the same. I thought Sanju was problematic but he did his best in it too:

I didn't really think much of Ranbir initially in Saawariya or Bachna Ae Haseeno (he seemed very OTT in BAH especially), but when I watched Wake Up Sid in theaters in 2009, I was really blown away. I related to his character really well and I think he was superb in it.
Then Ajab Prem, Rocket Singh, Rajneeti, Barfi happened and I was impressed with his range - extremes with slapstick comedy like Ajab Prem to serious and cunning in Rajneeti to emotional in Barfi is no mean feat!

I think till YJHD (IMO while an above-average film, he seemed a bit repetitive, though I loved his scenes with Farooq Sheikh), everything was going really well. Unfortunately Besharam, Roy and Bombay Velvet especially put a dampener and while I haven't seen any of these 3 in full, I think it was more the films than his performance that was bad.

I watched Tamasha and enjoyed his performance thoroughly but can see why it didn't really work at the box office; it was not for everyone. I just really related to it on a personal level. I personally love his performance in the emotional scene before Agar Tum Saath Ho and the deleted scene when Deepika visits him in his apt - it was so raw and touching. Not every actor can pull off such a role.

I guess most of our favourites match⭐️
But truly rocket was boring. And bv and besharam just bad. Other than that i am a fan of this actor and his skill.

Amazing: Rockstar (though the actual film was unbearable), Barfi, Rocket Singh, Wake Up Sid
Good: Sanju, Rajneeti, JJ, Second half of Tamasha
Average: YJHD, BAH, First half of Tamasha, APKGK
Trash: Besharam, Anjaana Anjaani
Stoned: Roy
Not sure about BV (to judge his performance) cos I just couldn't sit through it and have never gathered the courage to re-watch it. And I have never watched Saawariya till date 😆

P.S. He is a really good actor but he has his hits and misses. He does better in non-gimmicky films which are not completely commercial. His off beat pairings are better too.

One of the best.
If we take commercial big stars like three Khans, HR, Akki, Ajay, Ranbir, Ranveer and Varun, then yes.
But than there are the likes of Ab Sr, Nawaz, Vicky and RKR. Who I don't think are any less, intact this scene starts around 6:36, I have hardly seen any act like that in BW, Nawaz just kills it.

I think Ranbir is one of the best we have from this gen.. I have watched only Ajab prem, YJHD, Barfi, Rockstar, ADHM and Sanju from his filmography and from that I think he was best in Barfi .. I loved loved loved that film and him in it! Rockstar as a film had no head or tail 😆 ..but must say he was splendid in it . He was good in YJHD.. but I loved DP more. Ajab prem is a hilarious film and I love it 😆 RK was so cute there and so was Kat. Didn't like him in ADHM.. every character was so unlikeable and the film was shit🤔
And in Sanju, he was really good.. Though I liked the older Sanju more than the younger one.. I felt he overacted a bit in the younger parts. Sanju was a great performance. . But I will rate it a bit lower than Barfi 😳
