I'm not talking about the govt. I said non govt people, from extremist org get outraged over statements and can go to crazy lengths to make their point. But yeah all political parties are the same. Not going to support any over this.

your point makes sense, but then thats the society... not the government... like if one says, the society is becoming intolerant in general... this is what we all say... but pointing towards the government, makes it into a serious charge... against the country, cause the government represents the country...

I thought he is calling out random threats that people give online or crazy people who will actually kill someone over their opinions, which is very much possible. The govt won't kill him or anyone for just criticising of course. There might be a defamation case though, if the criticism is against a specific person.

^hmmm, that also makes sense... just another way of saying India has become intolerant... but the word Government spins it into different direction... making it seem like a state sponsored terrorism

And what he said is truth and such people won't b even held accountable. How many honour killing , rapes , cow lynching happens here and rarely somebody gets justice. It' very sorry state of affairs of justice in the country.

@BOLD - Enough to prove this is a bogus agenda driven survey. Any person with even a single brain cell would know not to place Afghanistan, Myanmar, and Zimbabwe above India in terms of press freedom. I mean LOL!

This is why Modi will win 2019. Every counter fact is labelled an agenda. 😆
It never fails to amaze me, how concrete facts are just swept under the rug or completely ignored.

a) Multiple people have been arrested, served police notices for 'tweeting' against Modi, the BJP.
Ankit Patil, a 25-year-old travel agent, was arrested from Goregaon after police tracked his mobile IP address. Ram Subramanian, a 39-year-old ad film maker, was the other person against whom charges were filed, for a jibe at PM Narendra Modi and his mother on Mother's Day.
b) Modi has a paid army of trolls on social media that he follows. Social media played a massive role in Modi's win in 2014.
c) 54 Journalists have been attacked since Modi's acche din. NDTV has been given 24 Hr bans, CBI raids, editors threatened for showing the Truth.
d) They even tried to make it illegal to criticize the PM, or the ruling party terming it anti-national in 2016. 😆 The Supreme court squashed it but of course.
e) Bollywood ka to sabko pata hi hai. Aamir Khan se leke Padmaavat se leke Swara tak.

India is not become intolerant, India is being made intolerant. People are self censoring themselves because they're scared that they could be attacked whether on social media or in person or worse, be arrested. The right wing trolls, many paid are being empowered by the establishment. Journalists are scared for their lives. India is aptly ranked in the freedom list, maybe a little bit too high actually. Its a sad state of "freedom of expresson" in the country today.

It will get worse mark my words, modi is still better. His successor will be pure Rss breed. The person who rules people is always one among them. The extreme ideology is only going to spread anarchy b it in any country.

serial faker prasanth umrao on Saif: Saif Ali Khan has paid his debt of getting 'Padam Shri' from Congress by putting allegation that one can be killed for criticizing Govt. He got National Award when his mother was Censor Board Chief.

Obviously Mr. Modi would win again as he has no strong competitor in opposition. RG is as good as TN CM edapadi!

No idea why you got Modi into this when I never did.
And btw, you have got your facts completely wrong when it comes to NDTV. NDTV was given a ban for a day because of the rules they broke under the act that was brought after 26/11 attacks. They aired content they weren't supposed to when a terror attack was unfolding in Pathankot, and their reporter ended up disclosing the area in which the terrorists were holed up, and they even revealed the kind of fighter jets the air base under attack had, therefore, revealing some strategically sensitive information while the attack was still on.

Raids are happening because their income tax details are all over the place. The investigation is happening under SEBI - the Securities and exchange board of India, as NDTV happens to be a listed company. Ask their former employee Barkha Dutt who started speaking up the moment she jumped ship.

And any person who watches a bit of news and reads about international affairs will term this survey a load of bullcrap. If you want to believe it - go ahead and do it, but it only shows you have a very poor understanding of the conditions and happenings in countries like Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, and Myanmar. Plus, if an army of trolls on social media is your big grievance with the current state of the country, then I would only suggest you to grow up, and get used to the ways of social media. All political parties have their own armies of trolls, and not just in India but across the globe.
